According to reports, Will Matthiessen was born on January 9, 1998, to parents, Julie and Conrad Matthiessen as their second child. He had two siblings, one younger sister and one elder sister. Will seems to have inherited his athletic abilities from his grandparents and his two uncles who used to row for Cal.
While Will’s grandmother used to be a tennis player, his grandpa had previously represented Yale in soccer and rugby. During his childhood, Will picked up several athletic hobbies, including skiing, ping-pong, and golf. However, he ultimately decided to stick with playing baseball.
For those who do not know, Will was the No. 5 overall recruit in Oregon. He was a fairly dominant player at West Linn High School, and after being named the Best Male Athlete, he joined the Stanford Cardinals. Will Matthiessen made 252 appearances as a batter in his junior year and finished his college career with a 0.305 batting average, 91 hits, 75 RBIs, and 19 home runs.
Post-college, Will was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft. During his time with the team, he had 197 hits, 157 RBIs, and 129 runs with a batting average of 0.228. However, he eventually had to retire after constantly struggling with strikeouts, followed by a series of injuries.
Coming to Will’s relationship with Lexie Hull, the duo met for the first time when they were still student-athletes at Stanford University. They were both part of the Bachelor of Science in Management Science and Engineering course. With their shared love for sports, their bond grew even stronger. They got engaged in 2024, and fans are eagerly waiting to see the couple's wedding.

Recently, Lexie Hull took to her Instagram Story to share pictures from Manhattan Beach during the Indiana Fever’s West Coast road trip. Through her pictures, fans caught a glimpse of her close friendship with her teammate, Sophie Cunningham, before their upcoming match with the Los Angeles Sparks. It is worth mentioning that the beach outing came after Indiana scored an 84-68 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, allowing them to take a brief break before they return to action.
In the snap that Lexie posted, she could be seen soaking up the sun alongside Sophie while lying on white towels on the beach. For the outing, Lexie chose to wear a pastel-striped triangle bikini with bright pink trim. On the other hand, Sophie donned a geometric patterned triangle bikini. The Fever guard captioned the picture as “much needed r&r.” With Sophie resharing the image, the buzz surrounding the post grew even more.
Reacting to the picture, a social media user humorously commented, “I bet Lex's fiance is there for security.” Another wrote, “I see security is staying out of sight. Lol!” One fan who was more focused on the ongoing conversation surrounding the Fever penned:
