Gina Maddy has been active in a different field
While Jimmy Kimmel has been a popular face on television, Gina Maddy pursued a career as a costume designer. According to IMDb, she was born on December 13, 1964.
She has been a wardrobe supervisor for the television movie, Party Like the Rich and Famous, released in 2012. She was a costume designer for another movie released in the same year, titled Party Like the Queen of France. Although other details related to her early life and educational background remain unknown, she completed her higher studies at Arizona University, where she also met Jimmy Kimmel.
When Jimmy and Gina first met during the ‘80s, the former was working at the college radio station, and Maddy was a student. They started dating shortly after and married in 1988, when Kimmel was just 20 years old. The TV host said that his family didn't find the early marriage unusual, but his friends did.
The early years of their marriage were marked by constant relocation and financial instability. Jimmy Kimmel chased radio jobs in Seattle, Tampa, Tucson, and Palm Springs, getting fired several times, while Gina Maddy worked as a costume designer to support the household. In August 1991, the duo welcomed their first child, a daughter named Katherine. Two years later, they had another child, a son named Kevin, in 1993.
Raising two small children on an inconsistent income was difficult, and Kimmel later admitted he was absent a lot and struggling to balance work and family. The late 1990s brought a career breakthrough with Win Ben Stein's Money and The Man Show, but also intense work schedules. By 2001, the marriage was strained beyond repair.
Jimmy and Gina separated in 2002, and their divorce was finalized in 2003 after 14 years of marriage, coinciding with the launch of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. Since then, they have maintained a private co-parenting relationship, and Maddy has stayed entirely out of the public eye.
ABC dismissed the reports of Jimmy Kimmel’s show getting suspended
A report by Page Six claimed that the upcoming season of Jimmy Kimmel Live! was allegedly set to be its final one. A person familiar with the matter reportedly said his contract would not be renewed.
However, ABC has denied reports suggesting the late-night show would end next year. The network noted that the program, which has run for nearly 24 years, will stay on the schedule until at least May 2027 after the host agreed to a one-year extension last December, as reported by several outlets.
An ABC spokesperson told The Independent that the Page Six report about a cancellation next year was inaccurate. The spokesperson added that any discussion about the show's future at this stage was entirely speculative.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! faced one of its biggest controversies on September 17, 2025, when it was briefly taken off the air. The issue stemmed from his monologue on the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, in which he reportedly said supporters of the MAGA movement were trying to portray the suspect as not being part of their group and were attempting to gain political advantage from the incident.
Following criticism from FCC Chair Brendan Carr and decisions by major ABC affiliate owners Nexstar and Sinclair to drop the show, ABC suspended production on September 17, 2025. The network said the comments were considered ill-timed and insensitive. The show returned on September 23, 2025.
