The highly popular show, The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives, has finally dropped season 4 on Hulu, and, as expected, it has been filled with drama, revelations, and chaos. One of the biggest surprises on the show has been Mikayla Matthews announcing her quiet separation from her husband, Jace Terry. Although the much-loved couple shared several precious moments in previous seasons, the new season focused on the challenges they faced in their marriage. As the couple has decided to stay on amicable terms and raise their children together, here's what we know about Mikayla's estranged husband, Jace Terry. 

Who is Jace Terry?

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star, Mikayla Matthews' husband, Jace Terry, has been a regular face on the show. Initially, he stayed in the background while Mikayla was featured in the show's famous MomTok group. But gradually, he began appearing more frequently on the show and on social media, which earned him a following. According to an interview, Mikayla told People Magazine that she hoped viewers would eventually see more of Jace's playful personality.

Apart from his stint on the show, Jace worked as a project manager for the Utah-based food brand Waffle Love until 2024. Later, he joined a lighthearted social media group called "DadTok," which features several husbands from the reality series. They often share playful videos on social media similar to the viral "MomTok" videos made by their wives. Sharing more about Jace, Mikayla once told People Magazine:

"My husband and I are very witty and playful with each other. I think he's the funniest person I know, but he's rarely on the show."

Jace Terry and Mikayla Matthews' teenage romance 

Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry's relationship began when they were both teenagers. In an old TikTok video, Mikayla revealed that she met Jace when she was 16, still in high school. Their relationship quickly developed, and Mikayla found she was pregnant. But Jace was always supportive, and they decided to move ahead together as young parents. Soon, they welcomed their son, Beckham, in July 2017, when Mikayla was 17. Within a year, they tied the knot on March 1, 2018, and started one of the most loved marriages on the show. 

Over the years, Mikayla and Jace expanded their family and began sharing select moments from their parenting journey with their followers online. After Beckham, the couple welcomed their daughter, Haven, in 2019, and two years later, they welcomed another daughter, Tommie. Later in 2025, Mikayla announced she was expecting, and they welcomed their fourth child, a daughter, Lottie, in July 2025. Mikayla admitted it was a surprise pregnancy since she was dealing with ongoing health challenges at the time. Still, the couple was excited to become a family of six and often shared glimpses of their life with their children on social media. Recalling the phase, Mikayla said:

"My husband was with me when I took the test. He never really has much of a reaction to anything, but we were both pretty in shock. Then it set in, and we got really excited. We're definitely excited, nervous about my health and possibly passing anything on, but excited."

Why are Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry separating?

Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry's separation has become a major part of Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The couple openly discussed the challenges they had been facing in their marriage as they sought couples therapy. According to Mikayla, some challenges stemmed from her past emotional and personal struggles. They began to affect her more recently and led to intimacy and communication issues between her and Jace. 

Simultaneously, he shared that he hoped therapy would help them deal with these challenges together. But the process would require more individual time and space from them. Although they have decided to part ways, they will continue to support each other and co-parent their children.
