The film gives an inside look at Chevy's legendary career, controversies, health struggles, and personal life. In turn, it has brought the spotlight on Chevy's personal life and the women who turned out to be his soulmate and stood by him through all the difficult phases in his life. Who is Jayni Chase?

Chevy Chase found his true love after marrying for the third time with Jayni Chase in June 1982. They first met while working together on the 1981 comedy, Under the Rainbow, starring Chevy Chase, where she served as a production coordinator. Although Chevy Chase was immediately impressed with her, it was not the same for Jayni. She later recalled this in a 1990 interview on The Barbara Walters Special, stating that initially she did not take his flirtation seriously. But, she soon began to appreciate his genuine kindness, despite his stardom. In her words:

"He flirted with me and pursued me, but I didn't take it seriously. Then, one day, I made a rather flip remark to him, and I looked and saw that he was hurt by it. And I looked into those brown eyes, and I said, 'Oh, I think there's a nice guy there.' And there is."

Jayni Chase grew up in North Hollywood, California, and originally pursued athletics. However, she later shifted her focus to communications, studying at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her education enabled Jayni to secure employment in TV and film production, as well as roles at NBC. According to People, her grounded personality and disciplined lifestyle played a significant role in stabilising Chevy's turbulent life following his second divorce. In turn, the SNL star had often credited Jayni for her support in helping him stay away from substance abuse and adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

After dating for more than two years, Chevy Chase tied the knot with Jayni Chase in Los Angeles, and they built a family together. They share three daughters: Cydney (born 1983), Caley (born 1985), and Emily (born 1988). During his previous interviews, Chevy has been open about fatherhood, which has changed him and the roles he chose to pursue. Recently, the couple became grandparents after their youngest daughter, Emily, welcomed a baby girl, Ivy Jay Baglieri, in August 2024.

At the same time, Jayni has been open about her health journey. Back in 2019, she revealed that she was diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis in 2015 and went through some surgeries and natural treatment for the same.
