As Berea is still reeling over the tragedy, know all about the 18-year-old suspect.
Brailen Weaver is an 18-year-old resident from Kentucky. He is accused of committing one of the state's most terrifying bank shootings. Later, the 18-year-old checked multiple cash drawers before leaving the place. Meanwhile, it is still not confirmed if he took any money, and if so, then how much. Soon after the incident, Kentucky State Police and Federal agencies began a large-scale search operation within a few hours to track him down. According to the investigators, Brailen had reportedly planned the whole incident. Hence, the investigators quickly began piecing together the incident using surveillance footage, witness testimony, and online activity.

The primary reason for Brailen Weaver's arrest was his social media activity. According to the federal affidavit credited by People, the 18-year-old had allegedly shared a meme on the internet just a few hours after the robbery. It showed a masked figure holding cash, with a caption that immediately caught the investigators' attention. It read"
"I pledge allegiance to da bag."

At the same time, investigators linked Brailen to a silver BMW seen near the bank. The investigators had reportedly matched the vehicle to an online listing connected to him. Later that evening, they found the car on Interstate 75, prompting a dangerous high-speed chase. Brailen had driven the car at 130 mph before crashing the vehicle near Lexington before running away. Eventually, after a manhunt with helicopters, K-9 teams, and local police, Brailen was caught at 3 a.m. on May 1, 2026. In fact, a firearm was also found in the crashed vehicle. However, it is yet to be confirmed if it was the same weapon used at the crime scene.
