Alex Cooper is currently making headlines because Miley Cyrus playfully branded her as "creepy" during the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which premiered on March 24, 2026. Miley joked that once Alex "got money," she moved next door, then acted surprised when she realised she was her neighbour. The pop star exclaimed, "Oh my god, you live here?" despite having been interviewed by Alex at that same house five years earlier. Miley Cyrus' humorous remarks have put Alex Cooper in the spotlight, sparking interest in her personal life, particularly her marriage to Matt Kaplan.

Matthew 'Matt' Kaplan is a prominent Hollywood film producer and the founder and CEO of Ace Entertainment. He has established himself as a major figure in the entertainment industry, particularly in the Young Adult (YA) genre. Matt is the founder of Ace Entertainment, a production company. Under his leadership, the company focuses on content for Gen Z and Millennial audiences. He is best known for producing the successful To All the Boys I've Loved Before film trilogy and its spin-off series, XO, Kitty, for Netflix.
Matt served as the president of Awesomeness Films and held roles at Lionsgate and Blumhouse Productions. He also has a joint business venture with his wife, Alex Cooper. The couple co-founded Trending, a media company that oversees various projects, including Call Her Daddy and Unwell Network, both hosted by Alex. Thus, the spouses not only act as each other's support system in their personal lives but also serve as an aid in their professional endeavours.

Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan's relationship began in July 2020 with a "modern meet-cute" on a professional Zoom call during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alex, the host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, was meeting with Matt's production company, Ace Productions, to discuss a collaboration on a television show. Despite there being five other people on the business call, she recalled staring at her now-husband's video square and thinking he was very handsome. Sharing the details with Vogue, Alex stated:
"I got on Zoom and immediately started thinking, Wow, this producer is very handsome—but, stay focused Alex. There were about five other people on the Zoom from his company, but I kept just staring at Matt's video square."

Alex kept her husband, Matt Kaplan's identity hidden for nearly three years. After meeting on a work Zoom call in July 2020, she referred to him exclusively by the nickname, 'Mr. Sexy Zoom Man' on her podcast to protect their privacy. She referred to him by the moniker when she first shared details of their initial meeting and first date in August 2020. In February 2021, Alex Cooper confirmed that they were officially dating in a YouTube video titled I HAVE A BOYFRIEND..., though she still kept his name under wraps.
Matt proposed to Alex on March 3, 2023, at their shared home in Los Angeles after a private three-year relationship. He arranged a fake photoshoot through her publicist to ensure she was professionally styled with her hair, makeup, and nails done when she returned home. When Alex arrived at her residence, she found it decorated with candles and music playing. A laptop prompted her to play a video of Matt Kaplan wearing the same outfit as in their first Zoom meeting in 2020. After that, she followed instructions and participated in a scavenger hunt to reach Matt and find him with an engagement ring.
Following the proposal, Matt Kaplan surprised Alex by flying in her closest friends and family for a celebratory dinner at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles. She shared the details of her engagement through her Call Her Daddy podcast. Over a month after the event, Alex introduced her fiancé, Matt Kaplan, to the public on April 24, 2023, through an interview with W Magazine. Describing her feelings back then and explaining her decision to keep the details private for some time, she stated:
"It was truly the best moment of my life. It was such an incredible moment...So happy that I kept it [the moment] for myself and my family and my friends."

Alex and Matt exchanged vows in an intimate, multi-day wedding celebration at a beachside setting in Riviera Maya, Mexico, as reported by Vogue. The couple described the marriage ceremony as feeling more like a relaxed vacation than a formal ceremony. The event was officiated by Alex's brother, Grant. Breaking from traditional norms, Alex walked down the aisle alone, a decision to reject being handed over. Instead of a traditional first dance, the couple shared a 'first shot' with their guests. As of March 2026, they do not currently have children together, but have discussed wanting to start a family, according to PEOPLE.
