Although Lance has not been charged with any crime, his relationships with Tyler and the evidence presented in court have made him a key witness. In turn, the prosecutors are seeking to move the case into trial.
Who is Lance Twiggs?
Lance Twiggs was Tyler Robinson's roommate and romantic partner when he allegedly shot Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley. They used to live together in St. George, Utah, before Tyler was taken into custody after a 33-hour manhunt. Investigators believe that Lance was among the first people whom Tyler contacted after the shooting. This makes him an important figure in the investigation.
According to prosecutors, Tyler had allegedly sent Lance some text messages and Discord messages after the shooting. He asked Lance to look under a keyboard for a handwritten confession note. Court testimony has also revealed that Lance gave investigators a recorded interview in April 2026. Meanwhile, prosecutors have cited his statements and some digital evidence to establish the timeline of the events surrounding the case.
Where is Lance Twiggs now?
Lance Twiggs has mostly stayed out of the public eye after Charlie Kirk's death. According to the evidence brought into the court, he has moved away from Utah. Instead, he is now living quietly with his family in Texas. Unlike Taylor, Lance has not been arrested or charged in connection with the activist's death.
However, Lance's name has surfaced in the case due to the evidence presented in court. Prosecutors mentioned that both Tyler's and Lance's DNA was found on a towel wrapped around the rifle recovered after the shooting. At the same time, it was present on a screwdriver found near the rooftop where investigators believe that the shots were fired.
Meanwhile, prosecutors have maintained that Lance's DNA was taken as an elimination sample during the investigation. On the other hand, Tyler's defence team has challenged the interpretation of the forensic evidence.
What may happen next for Lance Twiggs?
Until July 2026, Lance Twiggs remained a cooperating witness in the case rather than a criminal defendant. In fact, court records show that he received limited-use immunity for the statements he made to investigators. It means that those statements generally cannot be used against him in a future criminal case.
So, the prosecutors are depending on his recorded interview rather than his testifying in person. In turn, it could play a major role if Tyler's case goes to trial. Unless investigators find new evidence linking Lance to criminal activity, there are currently no public reports suggesting he is facing charges.
