Later, he went on to make a name for himself in Bollywood by working in some blockbuster films like Pathaan, Dilwale, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Om Shanti Om, Swadesh, Raees and many more. However, even after having the world in his hands, there is one thing that the actor always misses. And it is the presence of his parents, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan and Lateef Fatima Khan in his life. Every now and then, Shah Rukh expresses his feelings about losing his parents at an early age. For the unversed, Shah Rukh lost his father to cancer in 1981 and his mother passed away in 1991.

On December 7, 2016, Shah Rukh Khan attended the trailer launch of the to-be-released film, Raees. During the media interaction at the event, one of the journalists asked him about a special locket that he had worn in his film. Answering the question, the actor revealed that it features his parents' pictures. Shah Rukh also mentioned that though he doesn't get easily symbolically attached to things, however, he got this locket made on one of his birthdays as it represents his parents' blessings for him. In his words:

"Yr I am not very symbolically attached to things. But I got this made for one of my birthdays. It is a prayer, a dua which my parents used to do for me. It has a picture of my parents."

Further, in the same press conference, Shah Rukh revealed how he ended up donning this locket in his film, Raees. Talking about the same, he revealed that when the team decided to add a tavij to his character, he took the locket one day to the sets as it is really close to him. He also showed his parents' picture, which was inside the locket. And the overwhelming feeling that Shah Rukh felt while showing the picture was clearly visible on his face. Without a doubt, the locket speaks volumes about his love for his ammi and abbu.

When Shah Rukh talked about his regret of not telling his parents about his love for them

Earlier, when Shah Rukh had appeared on Salman Khan’s show, Dus Ka Dum, he opened up about the importance of love. Talking about the same, the actor revealed that he didn't express his love to his parents enough when they were alive, and that is the biggest regret of his life. Elaborating more about it, Shah Rukh mentioned:

"I am a father to three kids and all parents wish that their children remind them once a month, once in six months or even once in a year that I love we love you. After my parents died, I realised that I should've told them that I love them a few more times."

Once for the promotions of the her film, Hichki, Rani Mukerji had asked her friends from the industry to share the hiccups they had faced in life. And her dearest friend, Shah Rukh Khan, was among the first few to talk about the same. Elaborating more about it, King Khan had remarked:

"My greatest ‘Hichki moment’ is the death of my parents. I was 15 when my father passed away and 26 when my mother passed away. It was very sad for us. The empty house without my parents used to come to bite us (my sister and me). The loneliness, pain and sadness of the loss of both my parents, could have been overwhelming enough to take over my life wholly. I decided to overcome this Hichki moment by letting acting fill up my entire life."
