In a 2025 interview with TOI, Asha Bhosle mourned the loss of legendary singers, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey and more. She felt proud working with them. Asha highlighted that each of them shared a great rapport not only as colleagues but also as close friends. While reports of alleged sibling rivalry made headlines, Asha and Lata’s bond grew stronger with each passing day. She was quoted as saying:

"I take this opportunity to remember the wonderful singers that I have worked with ... my older sister Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi, Shri Kishore Kumar, Shri Manna Dey, Shri Mukesh, Shri Hemant Kumar, and the list goes on. I shared a great rapport with them, not only as colleagues but also as close friends. I recall one common factor between all these great artists - they were all simple human beings without a nasty bone in their system. Unfortunately, most of my close friends and colleagues have passed away and I mourn their loss, a void that can never be filled."

In 2022, Asha expressed her grief over the death of her elder sister, on the memorial show, Naam Reh Jayega. For the uninitiated, Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022. Recalling their humble beginnings, Asha shared that Lata always believed in simple living. She highlighted that the Nightingale of India, late Lata Mangeshkar, never said no to anyone and used to believe in sharing. Expressing her disbelief, Asha said that she believed someday she would get a call from her elder sister. She was quoted as saying:

"Didi used to earn Rs. 80, and we used to run our household in that money. We were 5 people, and we used to have many relatives who would visit us. Didi never said no to anyone, she used to believe in sharing. There were times we used to buy Kurmura (Puffed Rice) for 2 Annas and used to eat that with tea and sleep. We had no complaints; they were simply happy times. can't believe she is gone. I still think I will get a call anytime saying, Asha, kashi aahes tu?"

Earlier, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Asha Bhosle opened up about the long-standing rumour about sibling rivalry involving her and her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar. Back in the '60s, Lata and Mohammed Rafi fought over 'royalty for singers'. While Lata favoured royalty, Rafi was against it. Their conflict divided the industry into two, and to everyone’s shock, Asha supported Rafi instead of her elder sister. This further fuelled the sibling rivalry speculations. Giving a subtle reply to the long-standing rumour, Asha said:

"People did carry tales and try to create trouble, but blood is thicker than water. I remember, sometimes both of us would be at a function and some industry types would ignore me and interact only with her, as if to prove their loyalty. Later, didi and I would have a good laugh."
