On February 22, 2021, Ajay Devgn and Kajol had completed 22 years of marital bliss and had shared adorable wishes for each other. Kajol had taken to her IG handle and had shared a throwback picture with Ajay from their movie, U Me Aur Hum and had written, ""And you sir, you’re very attractive. On the other hand, Ajay had shared a picture of a bottle of wine with a sketch of them with “Battled in 1999, only edition” printed on the label.
On April 2, 2021, Ajay Devgn turned 52 and we stumbled upon a throwback interview of him, where he had spoken about why he wasn’t interested to meet Kajol again after their first meeting. Talking about the same in an interview with Pioneer, Ajay had stated, “I had met Kajol once before we started shooting for Hulchul. Honestly, I wasn’t very keen to meet her after that. When you meet her for the first time, she comes across as a loud, arrogant and a very talkative person. Moreover, we were very different from each other in terms of personality. But, I guess what is meant to happen, happens.”
Ajay had also recalled how an official proposal had never happened between them. Revealing that they wanted to be sure of spending the rest of their lives with each other, Ajay had said, “We didn’t rush through it. As a matter of fact, we said ‘I love you’. An official proposal didn’t happened either. We fell in love, grew with each other. We took our time until we were sure that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Marriage, too, was never discussed, but was always imminent. It has been more than a decade now. And I owe my success to her. For a man to be successful, it is important that he is at peace at home.”

Their love story is quite unusual as Kajol was one of the top-notched actresses of the 90s and he was a less-successful actor when they had started dating. Her decision of getting married to Ajay had come as surprise to her fans, friends and even her family. Critics had labelled them as an ‘unlikely pair’, many had commented that they would not last long because of their contrasting personalities. But as they say, somethings are meant to be and so were Ajay and Kajol. Even after so many years of marriage, one look at them makes our hearts flutter.

The beautiful couple had gotten married to each other on February 24, 1999, in a true Maharashtrian style. On Neha Dhupia’s chat show, No Filter Neha, Kajol had opened up about her marriage and how besides both their parents, nobody else had wanted both of them to get married. Talking about the same, she had mentioned that even her father was a little skeptical about her getting married to Ajay. She had revealed how her father had enquired why would she want to get married at such a young age and at the peak of her career, to which she had replied that she was in love with Ajay and had wanted to settle down.
