WH Shooter Cole Allen Says No Security Questioned Him When He 'Walked In With Multiple Weapons'

The White House was left shaken on Saturday after an unexpected shooting incident broke out in the middle of a high-profile correspondents' dinner. The dinner was attended by President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, press secretary Caroline Leavitt, and numerous other senior officials, along with roughly 2,600 journalists.

All hell broke loose when a gunman opened fire at the event held at the Washington Hilton, injuring a Secret Service agent before being taken into custody. Shortly before, the alleged gunman, Cole Thomas Allen, released a lengthy manifesto that has raised questions about the reliability of the security team at such a high-profile event.

Alleged gunman expresses shock at the lack of security at the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD)

The 31-year-old 'Teacher of the Month', Cole Thomas Allen, was accused of opening fire during the high-profile dinner. About ten minutes before the shooting, Allen reportedly sent a 1,052-word manifesto to his relatives, where he detailed his justification and "rules of engagement" for the shooting. One particular point that has gained attention was how he described his ordeal upon reaching the venue, and how easy it was for him to carry his weapons inside the building.

Cole Allen's words have raised serious concerns about the security team and made for an alarming case of a high-profile security breach. In his manifesto, Allen described checking the arena, expecting tight security and strict surveillance on every corner, but instead he found close to "nothing." He wrote:

"I expected security cameras at every bend, bugged hotel rooms, armed agents every 10 feet, metal detectors out the wazoo. What I got (who knows, maybe they’re pranking me!) is nothing."

The alleged gunman even mocked the security setup at the venue, writing that while there were numerous security personnel outside, focusing on protestors on the day of the event, there was no security the day before. Allen mentioned how nobody questioned him when he walked in carrying weapons, joking that even if he had been a foreign agent, he could have brought in heavier weaponry without anyone noticing. Condemning the U.S. Secret Service, Allen wrote:

"The security at the event is all outside, focused on protestors and current arrivals, because apparently no one thought about what happens if someone checks in the day before... If I was an Iranian agent, instead of an American citizen, I could have brought a damn Ma Deuce in here, and no one would have noticed shit."

How Cole Allen planned his attack, as per his 'rules of engagement'

In his long text forwarded to family members, Allen reportedly outlines his reasoning and plan of action, describing what he called his "rules of engagement". The manifesto begins with his apologies to loved ones before he shifts to political grievances. Allen said he framed the attack as a personal obligation tied to his views on U.S. leadership, even naming the top officials as his intended targets.

The alleged shooter devised different plans to approach each group. Senior officials, including President Donald Trump and his senior administrative staff, were his priority targets, and he planned to engage with law enforcement officials only if necessary. He labelled the civilians, including hotel security and low-level staff, as "non-targets", though they were at risk of accidental harm.
