Over the years, numerous film critics, iconic actors, and audiences have hailed the legendary actress, Waheeda Rehman as one of the greatest actresses of all time. Waheeda made her acting debut in Hindi cinema with the film, C.I.D., which was released back in 1956. Even before making her debut in Hindi cinema, Waheeda had already impressed everyone in the South Indian film industry. The actress made her acting debut in the South with the film, Rojulu Maraayi in 1955.

It was in the year 1971 when iconic actor and filmmaker, Sunil Dutt decided to assemble a cast of superstars for his dream project, Reshma Aur Shera. The film's cast included Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Raakhee, Ranjeet, K.N. Singh, Amrish Puri, Sanjay Dutt, and many more renowned names. However, there’s one incident from the film’s shooting that became a timeless memory, especially for Waheeda Rehman and Amitabh Bachchan.
In 2019, Waheeda Rehman appeared on the famous comedy reality show, The Kapil Sharma Show, and shared some of the most memorable incidents of her acting career. However, one incident left everyone in splits, and it was about Waheeda Rehman and Amitabh Bachchan. The veteran actress revealed that in one of the scenes of the film, she was supposed to slap Big B, and while they were preparing for it, she had jokingly warned Amitabh that she would slap him so hard so he should better be prepared for it. The actress had said:
"Maine Kahan Amitabh, bahut kas ke lagane waali hun."
Further in her hilarious revelation, Waheeda Rehman shared that when the actual shooting of the scene happened, she slapped Amitabh Bachchan as per the character’s demand. However, the actress admitted that she mistakenly slapped Big B too hard. Waheeda added that she didn’t want to hit him so hard, but out of error, it had happened. When the show’s host, Kapil Sharma, asked about Big B’s reaction to the slap, Waheeda Rehman admitted that Amitabh didn’t take it personally. The actress said:
"Shot hua aur Amitabh ne kahan, Waheeda ji, kaafi achcha tha."

For the unversed, Waheeda Rehman got married to the famous actor, Shashi Rekhi, commonly known by his stage name, Kamaljeet, in April 1974. The couple is blessed with two children, Kashvi Rekhi and Sohail Rekhi. Unfortunately, on November 21, 2000, Kamaljeet died due to a brain haemorrhage.
