Shah Rukh Khan, aka the ‘Baadshah' of Bollywood, has etched his name in the hearts of millions of people across the world ever since he stepped into showbiz. The actor started his journey in the entertainment industry with television serials and later ventured into the world of cinemas. In the initial years of his career, film producer, Vivek Vaswani played a significant role in his life. The latter welcomed SRK at his home when he started his journey in Mumbai.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, the film producer, Vivek Vaswani recalled the time when Shah Rukh shared about his mother’s ill health. He revealed that King Khan poured his heart out to him, and shared minute details about his mother’s health. Vivek said that the two of them went to Gehlot, located near Church Road, where SRK talked about his mother’s organ failure. The producer said:
“We went to Gehlot near Church Road. We ordered butter chicken and naan. He said to my face, ‘My mother is dying’. He poured his heart out. Then we went and sat on Marine Drive. He told me about his mother, the organ failure.”

Vivek Vaswani further disclosed that he used to buy expensive medicines for SRK’s mother and send them to Delhi through the actor’s friend, Raman. Unfortunately, Shah Rukh Khan’s mother, Lateef Fatima Khan passed away in 1991 due to her poor health. After the actor’s mother passed away, he turned to Vivek and revealed his wish to work in film. The producer shared that SRK never wanted to step into cinemas, but he did because his late mother wanted him to become a superstar. Vivek shared:
“One day he came, and said, ‘I want to do films.’ I said, ‘But tumko film karni hi nahi thi, tumne kahan ki main TV karunga, film karunga hi nahi’. Toh he said ‘ab mujhe film karna hai kyunki meri maa ka sapna hai ki main bohot bada superstar ban jaun.’ Toh maine kaha thik hai, and he said ‘No, you have to promise otherwise I won’t come in your house.’”

In the same interview, Vivek Vaswani disclosed that he has not met Shah Rukh Khan for the last four years. The producer shared that the two have not even talked over a call, let alone met. He said that owing to their busy lives, the two could not meet for all these years. He said:
“We don’t have a relationship. We don’t talk. We don’t meet, but when we do, it’s as if the years were not there. I am not a suburbanite. I am a teacher. I am the dean of a school. I work 18 hours a day. I travel by bus, local train, and Shah Rukh is a superstar.”
Vivek Vaswani recalled meeting SRK four years ago at his birthday party. He mentioned that the actor wanted him to meet his three kids, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. Further in the same interview, the film producer shared that Sha Rukh carried 17 phone numbers, and it gets really difficult to get in touch with him due to his super busy schedule. Vivek added that he called SRK to congratulate him on his 2023 film, Jawan’s success, but alas, he could not reach him. He disclosed:
“He (SRK) has 17 phones, and I have one number. If he picks it up, only then can I talk. I called him after Jawan, but he didn’t pick up. When I was in the shower, he called, which I didn’t pick up. He is travelling all the time. He also has responsibilities. He runs an empire, so I am okay.”
