Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film, Srikanth is based on the inspirational journey of visually impaired entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla. The film is set to hit the theatres on May 10, 2024, and a few teasers have already been shared on social media. Filmmaker Tushar Hiranandani's eponymous biopic has Rajkumar in the lead role alongside Jyotika, Sharad Kelkar and Alaya F, amongst others in other key roles. Thus, people are already curious about the entrepreneur, who has overcome many odds and showed the way to others despite facing many challenges in life because of his impaired vision.
Srikanth Bolla's journey, like any other visually impaired person, began with lots of challenges right from the day he was born into a family of farmers in Seetharamapuram of Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in 1991. As per a 2022 report by The Hindu, Srikanth's parents were advised to abandon him soon after his birth. This was because his neighbours and relatives felt he could not care for his parents in their old age. However, without listening to them, Srikanth's parents chose to provide him with immense support and education, which, in the long run, paved the way towards his success.

Srikanth's classmates also scorned him for being visually challenged. However, Srikanth overcame all such barriers in his life and has turned his disadvantage into an opportunity to reach such a point in his life, from where he is constantly inspiring new minds every now and then. Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film will showcase all the challenges and discrimination he faced due to his disability that never deterred him from pursuing his goals to achieve immense success.
Coming to his educational qualifications, Srikanth also faced hurdles over there. Despite topping his class 10 Board exams, he was denied to take up the science stream. However, as per multiple reports, he didn't give up and pleaded with the government for the same. Then, after six months of waiting, the authorities let him pursue science at his own risk. And yet again, Srikanth opped Class 12, securing 98 percent marks. But this time too, he was denied admission to coaching institutes for the Indian Institute of Technology. Afterwards, he managed to get admission to MIT, United States, becoming the first international blind student in the institution. There, he studied business management.

After pursuing his graduation from an international institution, Srikanth felt that he needed to return to his homeland and work on the lack of opportunities for disabled people in India. Then, he started Bollant Industries in 2012 with the same aim, and by 2016, the company made five manufacturing units. It gave widespread opportunity to differently abled people in Hyderabad. Now, his company is worth INR 500 million, and it employs and trains differently-abled individuals to manufacture eco-friendly and compostable packaging. If reports are to be believed, the company received an undisclosed investment funding from Ratan Tata of around USD 1.3 million.
Defying the odds, Srikanth thus, could very easily make a niche for himself. In 2017, the CEO and founder of Hyderabad-based, Bollant Industries was named by Forbes magazine in its list of 30 under 30 across all of Asia. He also co-founded the Samanvai Center for Children with Multiple Disabilities in 2011, in which he started a Braille printing press, and is the director of Surge Impact Foundation, founded in September 2016. Moreover, he was a youth leader since 2005 and went on to become a member of Lead India 2020: The Second National Youth Movement, which was started by former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, and has many other involvements.
Talking about his recognitions, he was awarded the Emerging Leadership Award by ECLIF Malaysia in 2016, the National Entrepreneurship Award in 2019, and Entrepreneur of the Globe by One Young World, UK in 2019. Based on his primary source of income and wealth with Bollant Industries, he has a total net worth of Rs. 50 crore, according to numerous reports.
On February 28, 2022, Srikanth Bolla got engaged to the love of his life, Swathi. Two months later, on April 28, 2022, the lovebirds tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony. It was recently, on March 31, 2024, when Srikanth and Swathi became proud parents to their baby girl and joyfully announced the same to his massive fanbase.
