Back in 2006, the world had witnessed the first sign in a teenager becoming a legend and today, there are a plethora of reasons to love him. December 19, 2006, was a tragic day for Virat Kohli but it was also marked as a beginning of a journey to a successful cricket career. Virat’s father had passed away after a long battle with cancer the same night when he had to play Ranji Trophy and soon after the cremation, his presence in the field and the tremendous performance had touched millions of hearts. Since then, there has been no looking back for the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat! Other than his professional achievements, the charming and dreamy Virat Kohli has also hit the headlines for his ‘taken’ status with wife, Anushka Sharma. We just can’t forget the moment when Virat and Anushka’s first wedding photographs came out and how we were ‘bowled’ over by the dulhe raja. Moments like how he couldn’t take his eyes off Anushka, didn’t leave his bride’s side even for a minute and held her hand throughout the ceremonies, made sure to make her smile during the vidaai too, sang for her at a pre-wedding function; Virat became the #BestGroomEver and we secretly wished our future husband to be like him!
On November 5, 2019, Virat Kohli turned 31 and to celebrate the special day, he and his beautiful wife, Anushka Sharma had headed off to Bhutan. Virat and Anushka are making the most of their vacation, from feeling the genuine joy for shopping at sabzi mandi to experiencing the ‘simple and pure human connection’ while trekking. Anushka posted pictures and explained their trekking experience in her caption which could be read as “Today, during our 8.5 km uphill trek we stopped by a small village on a mountain to pet and feed a baby calf who was born just 4 months ago. While we did that the owner of the house asked us if we were tired and wanted to have a cup of tea?”
Anushka Sharma’s caption could be further read as “So, we went into the home of this beautiful and warm family who had absolutely no idea who we were and yet they treated us with such warmth and love. We spent some time with them chatting and drinking tea and the whole time they just know us as two tired trekkers! Whoever knows Virat and me very closely, know that both of us live for such moments of genuine, simple & pure human connection. It fills us with such joy and peace knowing that they just wanted to be kind to two random foreigners (plus our guide) without seeking anything in return. If this is not the true meaning of life, then I don’t know what is. A memory we will cherish forever.” (Also Read: Ravi Dubey Shares A Video Of His 'Jhalli', Sargun Mehta Making Him Forcibly Dance To Her Tunes)
To mark his 31st birthday, Virat Kohli penned down a ‘note to self’ addressed to the 15-year old version of himself, Chiku and captioned it, “My journey and life's lessons explained to a 15-year old me. Well, I tried my best writing this down. Do give it a read. #NoteToSelf.” His note stated, “Hi Chiku, First of all, a very happy birthday! I am sure you have a lot of questions for me about your future. I am sorry but I am not going to answer too many of them. Because not knowing what’s in store makes every surprise sweet, every challenge thrilling and every disappointment an opportunity to learn. You don’t realise it today but it’s more about the journey than the destination. And the journey is SUPER!”
Virat Kohli’s ‘note to self’ further speaks about believing in himself and how in future, he will be liked and disliked by many people so he shouldn’t get affected by them. The note continued, “What I will tell you is that life has big things in store for you Virat. But you need to be real for each and every opportunity that comes your way. Grab it when it comes. And never take what you have for granted. You will fail. Everyone does. Just promise yourself that you’ll never forget to rise. And if at first you don’t, try again. You will be loved by many, and will be disliked too. By some who won’t even know you. Don’t care about them. Keep believing in yourself!”
Concluding his post on an emotional note, Virat Kohli wrote to the 15-year-old version of himself, asking him to express his feelings to his father. Asking ‘Chiku’ to savour the parathas as it’ll become a luxury in years to come, Virat’s note ended with, “I know you’re thinking about those shoes dad did not gift you today. They mean nothing when compared to the hug he gave you this morning or the joke he cracked about your height. Cherish this. I know he can seem strict at times. But that’s because he wants the best for you. You feel that our parents don’t understand us sometimes, but remember respect them and spend all the time you can, with them. Tell dad you love him. A lot. Tell him today. Tell him tomorrow. Tell him more often. Finally, just follow your heart. Chase your dreams, be kind and show the world how dreaming big makes all the difference. Be you. And… savour those parathas buddy! They’ll become quite a luxury in years to come… Make every day Super.” (Also Read: Shah Rukh Khan And Gauri Khan 'Squeeze Memories Into One Frame' With Aryan, Suhana And AbRam Khan)
