In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Vijay Varma opened up about the rumours about his girlfriend, Tamannaah Bhatia owning the fifth-biggest diamond in the world. On being asked about how he will be able to match the level of Upasana Kamineni if he ever wished to gift Tamannaah an expensive gift, he gave a hilarious reaction. Talking about the same, the actor stated that everyone knows that it is not a real diamond but a bottle opener. He also mentioned Tamannaah and Upasana are playing along with all these rumours. In his words:
"Aapko pata hai na woh kya hai? Woh bottle ka dhakkan hai. Woh mazaak kar rahe hain ek dusre ke saath. Media carry kar rahi hai ke Rs 2 crore mein fifth-largest diamond kisse milta hai."

Further, Vijay added that when the news about Tamannaah started making rounds in the media, he messaged her. The actor revealed that he asked his ladylove why his name was not mentioned in the news piece. Elaborating more on it, Vijay said:
"Maine usse message kiya ke yeh sab fake news aa rahi hai, aur mera naam kyu nahi likha."
For the unversed, rumours of Upasana gifting the huge diamond ring to Tamannaah made rounds after her old tweet had gone viral. And finally, on July 25, 2023, the actress reacted to the news and revealed the truth behind the diamond. She had taken to her IG handle and reposted a paparazzo's post, wherein she was flaunting her huge diamond ring. The actress then added that it wasn't a real diamond but a bottle opener. In her words:
"Hate to break it to you but we were just doing a photo shoot with a bottle opener and not an actual dimaond."
