Nayanthara and her filmmaker, Vignesh Shivan have been together for almost a decade. They first worked together in the 2015 film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. And soon, they started dating, realising their love and support for each other. Finally, it was in 2021 when the lovebirds announced their engagement, and got hitched the next year, on June 9, 2022, in a surreal wedding ceremony in Mahabalipuram. Eminent celebrities from Rajinikanth to Shah Rukh Khan graced their wedding. Following this, in October 2022, they were blessed with twin sons via surrogacy in October 2022.
Now, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan opened up about their love story that began on the sets of their first film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. They not only revealed who played the cupid between them but also mentioned how they soon came into a relationship. In a new interview with HELLO! India, Vignesh mentioned that it was popular actor, Dhanush, who asked him to narrate the story to Nayanthara. As she came on board, the married duo started spending quite some time together. Vignesh said:
“Dhanush sir made me narrate the story (of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan) to Nayan (Nayanthara). She liked it. Once she came on board, I was able to cast actor Vijay Sethupathi, who was initially not keen to do this film. He was not convinced about the script. But he agreed after Nayan said yes. The movie paved the way for me to spend a lot of time around her.”

Vignesh then also remarked that their relationship from a director-actress soon turned into something more, and they got involved with each other within a year. However, Nayanthara mentioned that she and Vignesh were initially letting things go with their own space and not rushing into things. But during this period, they could develop such a bond that the two of them became sure about each other. In Nayanthara's words:
“It was very organic... we just went with the flow. After three months, we both knew that this was it."
For quite some time, there were rumours that troubles hit the paradise of Nayanthara and Vignesh. These rumours began when the actress unfollowed her husband on social media. However, realising it was a mere mistake, Nayanthara soon started following him once again. But as she again shared a cryptic post on her social media, netizens sensed a sort of discord in her life. However, a report published by Hindustan Times clarified that there isn't any discord troubling the marital paradise of the adorable couple. The report stated:
“Contrary to the reports, the couple is not going through a tough time. Instead, they are going strong, and enjoying as well as cherishing every moment spent with their kids- Uyir and Ulagam, who have brought them closer in so many ways.”

After the buzz about trouble in their marriage surfaced on social media, Nayanthara took to her IG stories and posted a cute picture of her husband, Vignesh. In the picture, the couple could be seen enjoying a flute rendition by a renowned artist. However, it was their mushy moment that caught our attention. Nayanthara was sitting on Vignesh’s lap while showering him with a lot of kisses, and this simply dismissed all the rumours about trouble in their relationship.
