Currently, he is on a promotional spree for his upcoming movie, Bawaal, along with actress, Janhvi Kapoor. Ever since the film’s trailer got released, Varun and Janhvi have been receiving a positive response from the audience, as fans are loving their onscreen chemistry.
Recently, a Reddit user shared two pictures of Varun and Janhvi from the promotional photoshoot for their movie, Bawaal, which didn't go well with a section of netizens. In one of the pictures, Varun can be seen holding Janhvi by the waist and jokingly biting her ear, while the next picture featured a candid moment between the duo. Though it was evident that Varun was being goofy, netizens weren't impressed by his antics.

As soon as the pictures from the photoshoot were shared on social media, netizens began trolling Varun for his actions. Taking to the post's comments section, a section of social media users slammed the actor for being touchy with Janhvi Kapoor despite being a married man. While one user penned, “Varun is a good actor but unbearable during promotions", another one commented, “Bruh this type of stuff is fine only when you are playing a character onscreen and not offscreen."
Earlier, Varun Dhawan grabbed eyeballs at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards which took place in Abu Dhabi on May 27, 2023. However, it was a performance by Varun Dhawan and ace dancer, Nora Fatehi that became the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons. The duo could be seen dancing to the song, ‘Shava Shava’ from the iconic film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, with their hit chartbuster, ‘Garmi’ from the film, Street Dancer 3D, in the video. Varun and Nora faced a lot of criticism from social media users, who called their performance ‘cringe’.
