Vampire Diaries Star, Paul Wesley's First Wife Torrey DeVitto Had A 'Really Dark Time' After Divorce

For those unaware, he tied the knot with his longtime partner and model, Natalie Kuckenburg, on July 13, 2026. However, it is worth mentioning that this is not his first marriage, as Paul had been married twice before: first, to Torrey DeVitto, and second, to Ines de Ramon. Torrey once admitted that she had a really hard time after her divorce from Paul.

Torrey DeVitto was married to Paul Wesley from 2011 to 2013. She was seen on The Vampire Diaries as ‘Dr. Meridith Fell,’ a love interest of ‘Alaric Saltzman' (Matthew Davis) for a number of episodes on seasons 3 and 4 of the TV series. After she split from Paul, Torrey confessed that she went through a “really dark time.” And because her ex-husband also played a significant role in the same show, it drew a lot of attention. Speaking on Rachel Bilson’s Broad Ideas podcast, she said:
"It was public. It was the first time I did something like that. Because he was on a really big show that was really popular, so it did draw attention."
Torrey even claimed that after her split, she had no desire to reprise her role on the show. She revealed that she could not even get into the mentality that it was her job and she should go there despite their divorce. She recalled:
"I was on it, but I only did like six episodes. And then once we were splitting up, I was like, 'Pfft, not going back there. I'm not that kind of person that's like, 'Well, this is business, I can stay.' It's like, no. I don't want to come back. I'm good, thank you."
According to Torrey, her split with Paul Wesley garnered attention in a way that she was not prepared for. This is because, even two years after their divorce, people kept comparing whomever she dated to her ex-husband. Torrey found the scrutiny “mortifying” and claimed that fans “glamorised” Paul’s role as ‘Stefan Salvatore’ on The Vampire Diaries, but they didn't really “know him.” She was quoted as saying:
"That did garner a bit of attention in a way that I don't think I was prepared for. And then it was hard too because for a couple years, anybody that I would date afterwards, people would just [say], 'He's so disgusting. He'll never be Wesley. How could you do this?'"
Paul Wesley and Torrey DeVitto first crossed paths on the set of the Killer movie in 2007. After developing a bond, the duo got married four years later in a private ceremony. At the time of their separation, it was revealed that they had “decided to amicably split” and would “continue to remain good friends.”

A while ago, Paul Wesley’s wife, Natalie Kuckenburg, gave fans an insight into their intimate wedding ceremony. On her Instagram handle, she posted a carousel of photos alongside Paul and their pet dog, Greg. For her big day, she chose to wear a Galia Lahav Lilou dress. Meanwhile, Paul looked dashing in a dark navy suit and trousers.
Looking at the snaps, it seems that Paul and Natalie had opted for an outdoor wedding under the palm trees. The model captioned the post, “Mr and Mrs and the Best Boy, Greg.”
