How cruel can the world get? A shameless example of cruelty we all witnessed was when a media portal decided to edit TV actress, Vahbiz Dorabjee’s pictures to garner some more views on their video. Body shaming is never right, be it fat shaming or skinny shaming, and creating a situation on purpose for your monetary gain is distasteful. Vahbiz Dorabjee rightfully called out a media house and got support from her friends.
For the unversed, Vahbiz Dorabjee had tied the knot with Pyaar Ki Ye Ek Kahani fame, Vivian Dsena in the year 2013, surprising their fans. However, in 2016, after a troubled married life, the two had announced their divorce. Since then, the two have been living their happy life separately. However, Vahbiz is often trolled for her fluctuating weight.
Vahbiz Dorabjee attended the birthday party of her friend, Munisha Khatwani and looked gorgeous in a floral one-shoulder dress. However, a media portal edited the picture to show that Vahbiz has gained massive weight, which rightly did not go down well with the actress. Sharing the edited picture, Vahbiz lashed out at the portal and wrote, "Spot the difference!!! This is the reason a certain section of the media are losing respect in our eyes. Last night I was at a birthday party and this is what a certain portal has done with my media bytes. The above pic has been clearly edited just to get a certain amount of views.”
Vahbiz called it a shameful act, and added, “What a shameful act by #Tvmasala. Not gonna take this lying down. Defaming and Body shaming someone for views and likes will not be tolerated. I urge all the artists to put a stop to this shallow so-called journalism and be vocal about it. Enough is enough. SHAME ON TV MASALA." Soon, her friends from the industry came out in her support, slamming the news portal for their disgusting act.
As the industry came out in support of Vahbiz, she shared a picture on her IG handle from the same party and thanked her friends. Sharing a gorgeous picture, Vahbiz wrote, ""My so called weight gain" I want to Thank each and everyone from the bottom of my heart for the tremendous support on my previous post.Let's say no to bullying. Certain sections of the media are becoming vultures. They are stooping to such low levels for Likes and views. Just because we are public figures does not mean we can be harassed. Many people have sensitive hearts and you guys will be the culprits to put someone in depression. There has to be a thin line. There is a world beyond Likes and Views. Lets speak up and STOP this cheap mentality.."
In an earlier interview with the Bombay Times, Vahbiz Dorabjee had revealed how she had gained weight and the repercussions that she had to face for the same. She had said, “A few years ago, I gained weight due to a health condition. Sadly, if you are overweight, people tend to put you down; they criticise your sartorial choices because certain clothes are considered suitable only for thin women.”
Recalling how auditions had become a nightmare for her, Vahbiz had added, “When I went for auditions, the makers would tell me that I needed to lose weight. Whenever I wore swimsuits, I was told I had thunder thighs and so should avoid wearing one! If you are plump, people call you rolu-molu and names like that, which can be demotivating. I have broken down many times and lost my confidence.”
Vahbiz Dorabjee had proved that she is a strong-headed woman, who loves her body. She had shared, “I have accepted the fact that everyone can’t have a thin bone structure and I am a well-endowed woman. But not all women will have the strength to fight back. I know it is important to be fit, but sometimes, your metabolism does not respond the way you want it to. I hit the gym daily, but at the end of the day, I will look a certain way and today, I am happy about it."
Kudos to Vahbiz Dobarjee!
