Usha Uthup is hailed as a musical legend. She is also a famous actress and a social worker. While everyone loves listening to her voice and hit chartbuster, it is her unique style statement that leaves many in awe. However, not many know that Usha Uthup has a major saree obsession. Yes, she has been collecting pretty sarees from across India and has over 600+ sarees. Oh boy, we are bowled!
If you are an Indian girl, then you all must have played with your mother's dupattas and wrapped it around as a saree when you were little. Well, every Indian girl's love for saree starts at a young age, and we all wait to grow up and wear the pretty pieces. Sarees can never go out of fashion. Recently, Usha Uthup gave a glimpse of her saree collection in the latest episode of CRED Obsessions.

Usha Uthup revealed that her mother was a middle-class woman and couldn't afford to buy many sarees. She also revealed that her mother loved checks, dots and stripes which can never go out of fashion. Usha showed a red saree, with small checks that is famous in South Indian culture.
Further in the episode, Usha gave a glimpse of the most expensive saree, which she owns. She shared that her daughter has eyes on it. The mauve-hued kanjeevaram which had a pooja border and gold hamsa motifs on it. She added that is her daughter's favourite saree. Usha further added that the saree is really old and traditional.
Usha Uthup comes from a Tamil Iyer family. The singer revealed that she comes from a background, wherein black colour is loved by all the women. However, she married a family, who originates from Kerala. And her mother-in-law would get angry at her whenever she wore a black saree. Usha also showed a beautiful black saree, which is her favourite.

Usha Uthup always wanted to sing, and her aunt helped her get gigs in the city. In an interview with The Times Of India, Usha talked about her first job, a professional contract with a hotel. She added that she used to get Rs. 750 per month. She also called the experience of singing exciting. Usha was quoted as saying:
"It was by chance. My aunt helped me to get a few gigs and I always liked to sing for everyone. So I signed my professional contract with a hotel. And that was really something fantastic because, at the end of it, I got 750 rupees. Not for one show, but I got this amount for a month. I was standing and singing at the club and it was fantastic and I was the highest-paid singer in those days, I mean as a nightclub singer. So the thrill of earning that money was something else."
