It is an emotional moment for the Chopra family as the matriarch, Pamela Chopra breathed her last on April 20, 2023, at the age of 74. She was suffering from Pneumonia and was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days. However, her condition worsened, and she was put on a ventilator, but after a lot of struggles, Pamela freed herself and bid adieu to the world.
As soon as the news of Pamela Chopra’s death broke out, many celebs visited Yash Chopra's house for Pamela’s last rites. However, what caught netizens’ attention was Uday Chopra’s gesture while greeting Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, Kiran Rao when they paid a visit to the Chopra house. Uday was seen smiling while welcoming them, and it irked the netizens.

As soon as the video went viral on social media, Uday was trolled mercilessly for smiling at his mother’s funeral. One of the users wrote, “Is this a funeral or a housewarming ceremony? Why is Uday Chopra greeting Kiran Rao with a smile.” Another commented, “House party going on… @udayc laughing at his mother death... knew world has changed but changed this much never knew.”

As per a source close to the family, Pamela Chopra’s death had devasted her elder son, Aditya Chopra. Aditya was very close to his mother, Pamela and even though her death was not unexpected, he still could not take it. As per the source:
“Adi is not saying much. Aise bhi woh kam bolta hai. Since the tragedy he has withdrawn into a shell completely. His wife Rani has her hands full. She is running around trying to supervise everything.”

She was a frequent collaborator with her husband, Yash Chopra and was credited as the writer, costumes designer and singer in some of the popular YRF films. Her popular track, ‘Ghar Aaja Pardesi’ from the film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is still one of the most popular songs. Not just this, but the story of Yash Chopra’s 1976 film, Kabhi Kabhie was written by her.
