Twisha Sharma was a model and actress from Noida who reportedly died by suicide at her matrimonial house in Bhopal's Katara Hills area. Her advocate husband, Samarth Singh, has been absconding. Now, in the latest development, Samarth has reportedly moved the Jabalpur High Court and has sought anticipatory bail in relation to the high-profile death case. It has sparked outrage in Madhya Pradesh and many other parts of India.

A recent report by the Deccan Herald revealed that Twisha Sharma's lawyer husband, Samarth Singh, has now filed for a bail application with the Jabalpur High Court in relation to Twisha's death case. A report by the PTI also revealed that a magistrate court earlier had rejected his anticipatory bail application, while it was granted to his mom, retired district sessions judge, Girbhala Singh.

For the unversed, Twisha Sharma and Samarth Singh reportedly had met via Jeevansaathi.com. It was just five months into her marriage to Samarth in December 2025, that Twisha's family claimed she was harassed mentally, asked for dowry and was also pushed to commit suicide. The investigators revealed that Samarth has been missing since a FIR was lodged. The initial award announced for information related to his arrest was Rs. 10,000, which has now increased.

Twisha Sharma's family has accused her in-laws of pushing her to her death. Twisha's mother-in-law, Girbhala, has claimed that she was addicted to drugs. The police have registered an FIR under Sections 80(2), 85, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and under the Dowry Prohibition Act. Samarth and Girbhala have been named, and the cops have announced a cash reward of Rs. 30,000 for concrete information leading to the arrest of Samarth Singh.

Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law, Girbhala Singh, on May 18, 2026, held a press conference where she questioned Twisha's personality, her upbringing, and how she conducted herself after marriage. Girbhala had an emotional breakdown during the interaction and said that there was a 'vast difference' in Twisha and Samarth's family background. Girbhala claimed that they thought Twisha was a traditionally rooted girl who was entering their home, but later realised that her religious practices and traditional behaviour were merely an act. She revealed that in five months of marriage, Twisha went to Delhi five times and returned like a different person every time. Girbhala claimed Twisha had undergone an abortion and was also undergoing psychiatric treatment and counselling sessions. In her words:

"My son and daughter-in-law had chosen each other. It felt awkward to us when she started living in our house before marriage itself. After the wedding, we realised she was not the person we thought she was. She had only been pretending."

Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law, Girbhala Singh, had made another controversial remark and revealed that the husband is always accused when a wife dies by suicide. She called the behaviour of Twisha's dad 'strange'. Girbhala had escalated the matter and, in an interview with NDTV, raised questions on Twisha's financial and mental state and also her relationships.

Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law, Girbhala Singh, alleged that she was given Rs. 7 to Rs. 8 lakh post marriage and was questioned on where the money was spent within five months of marriage. Girbhala claimed that before Twisha's death, a set of car and house keys was reportedly found in the bag of Twisha's post her demise. In her words:

"We don't know whose car it is. The house key may belong to a Noida residence. The matter should be investigated."
