Dimple Kapadia needs no introduction as the stunning actress is an institution of talent. With miniskirts and midriff-baring polka dot blouse in the film, Bobby, Dimple had raised the bar of fashion and had instantly become the youth icon. The diva had turned down Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi, which eventually went to Jaya Bhaduri.
In 1973, Dimple had made her Bollywood debut with Raj Kapoor's film, Bobby, which had become a huge hit. However, after her wedding to superstar, Rajesh Khanna, Dimple had quit acting. When Dimple and Rajesh had separated in 1982, she had returned to acting and gave some tremendous performances in movies like Saagar, Rudaali, Gardish, Krantiveer, Dil Chahta Hai and many others.
On June 8, 2022, Dimple Kapadia turned 65, and her doting daughter, Twinkle Khanna penned an adorable birthday wish for her mommy, heaping praises on her. Twinkle took to her IG handle and posted a vintage picture with her mother, Dimple and sister, Rinke. Along with the picture, Twinkle wrote:
“The birthday girl’s heart is even more beautiful than her face. Happy Birthday Mom!”
Six months before the release of her debut film, Bobby, Dimple Kapadia had married the superstar of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna in 1973. Together they weaved a paradise with their two daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna. After a few years of his marriage to Dimple, Rajesh Khanna’s stardom had started fading away as his movies were not doing that well in the 70s and 80s. As a result, the superstar couldn’t handle the failure, and it had affected his relationship with Dimple. Even after many attempts, Dimple couldn’t mend her marriage, as a result, she had left him in 1984.
Dimple Kapadia had featured in many blockbuster films, including Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. In September 2020, when Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar with their children, Aarav and Nitara were in Scotland, the actress-turned-author had managed to squeeze in some time to watch her mother, Dimple Kapadia’s film, Tenet in the theatre. Praising her mother for her ‘wonderful part’ in the film, Twinkle had written:
“Finally saw Tenet in the theatre and though my mother is so laid-back that she refuses to do any publicity around it, she has a wonderful part and is completely incredible. Variety writes, "A sinister whisper network of international arms dealers emerges, with one of them, Priya (the wonderful Dimple Kapadia, in the film's wiliest performance) serving principally to coax the protagonist through the corridors of Nolan's storytelling. #MamaMia.”
Here's wishing a very happy birthday to Dimple!
