It was in February 2026 that the news broke that Vijay Thalapathy's estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce from the actor back at the Chengalpattu family court located in Chennai. As per the divorce petition that was filed, Vijay was accused of infidelity and it was alleged that the actor had been in an adulterous relationship. The actress was not named but fans alleged that Vijay was seeing Trisha Krishnan. Days after Sangeetha announced her divorce, Vijay and Trisha were seen at a wedding reception like in Chennai. Both of them had even worn matching attire and had added more fuel to the speculation.
