Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping case has entered its fourth month without any major arrest, sparking major debates on social media. Amid that, an X (formerly Twitter) user, recently shared a photo of Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, in which he is around plants. While it seemed like a normal snap, multiple users analysed it and felt that he looks similar to the masked guy, who was spotted near Nancy’s Guthrie at the time of her kidnapping.
Recently, an X user named JLR shared a photo of Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni. In the same, he can be seen wearing a grey-hued T-shirt with shorts. He was surrounded with plants and appears to be gardening. Even though he was facing downwards, it was his beard that helped people identify him. Along with the photo, JLR penned a caption, which can be read as:
"Tommaso Cioni with his hands in plants. He's the last known person to be with Nancy Guthrie before she vanished."

Soon after the photos went viral, multiple users shared their thoughts on it. However, what grabbed attention was that a few users felt that his appearance looked similar to the masked porch guy, who was seen outside Nancy’s house on the night when she was kidnapped. One user commented, "Is this to the left of Nancy Guthrie’s front door?" Another user wrote, "Look at his shorts shoulders. Just like porch guy. He plays guitar, always walks around with curved hands. Wake up." Despite this, a third user came in support of Tommaso and defending him, the user penned, "Porch guy had tattoos on arms doesn't look like Cioni does."

Ever since Nancy Guthrie has gone missing, her daughter, Annie and son-in-law, Tommaso have come under the limelight. The reason behind the same is that before getting kidnapped, the 84-year-old woman was last seen having dinner with Annie and Tommaso, after which the latter dropped her home. As per authorities, that was Nancy's last activity before being kidnapped. After she went missing, multiple questions were raised on Tommaso.

Initially, both netizens and authorities doubted him; however, later the authorities confirmed that Tommaso has no involvement in Nancy's kidnapping. They shared, "The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple." Apart from the authorities, when Savannah Guthrie sat down for her first interview after her mother's kidnapping, she too defended her family members.

During the same, Savannah Guthrie expressed her frustration on seeing claims made by people on Annie and Tommaso. She explained that everyone loved Nancy and no one would think of doing such a terrible thing with her. She also stated that no one protected Nancy the way Tommaso did. In her words:
"It's unbearable, and it piles pain upon pain. There are no words, there are no words. I don't understand and I will never understand. And no one protected my mom more than my brother, and we love her and she is our shining light. She is our matriarch. She's all we have."

For those who do not know, Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, 2026 and is believed to be kidnapped the next day, February 1, 2026. While there is no major arrest made regarding her kidnapping, multiple speculations and theories have made rounds on social media in the past few weeks. Recently, three arrests were made; however, it had little connection with the kidnapping and more to do with obstructing the road in the same neighbourhood from where Nancy went missing.
