Kaley Cuoco revealed when and why she and Tom Pelphrey decided to sleep in separate rooms
Kaley Cuoco and Emmy-winner Tom Pelphrey are currently eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second baby girl, due later in 2026. Ahead of that, she appeared on an episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast and opened up about her and Tom's unorthodox sleeping arrangement. She revealed that her three-year-older fiancé doesn't sleep in the bedroom with her; instead, he takes the guest room.
Kaley said their dogs led them to make that decision. Tom Pelphrey found it difficult to sleep soundly in the bedroom in the presence of their dogs. Additionally, he goes to bed late while Kaley sleeps early and also wakes up early with their daughter, Matilda. Thus, for everyone's convenience, he offered to take up the guest room. Regarding that, Kaley Cuoco mentioned:
"He started sleeping in the guest room...Tom is a night owl. Goes to bed very late. I go to bed earlier because I'm the one who gets up [with our daughter, Matilda] in the morning... We're totally on different sleeping schedules."
The thought of sleeping in different rooms first crossed Tom Pelphrey's mind during one of their couples therapy sessions. When he asked Kaley about it, she was shocked. Initially, she wasn't in favor of the idea; however, Tom's persuasion paid off. He argued that he and Cuoco usually don't see each other at night because of their different schedules, so it wouldn't matter if they slept in separate rooms.
Later, Kaley realized the new arrangement was actually beneficial for them and served as a "game-changer." They were both "very happy" as they were finally getting uninterrupted sleep. At first, she worried their sleeping arrangement could lead to their breakup. However, over time, they adapted and found it to be a good idea.
Kaley's concerns stemmed from the fact that she had undergone two divorces (from Ryan Sweeting and Karl Cook) and didn't want a third one on the way due to the distance between them.

Tom Pelphrey won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role on HBO's Task at the 2026 Emmy Awards. The actor was clearly very excited and gave a shoutout to his fiancée, Kaley Cuoco, who was also present during the ceremony. Kaley Cuoco couldn't contain her tears when Tom mentioned her in his speech.
After thanking his family and friends for all the love and support, he mentioned his pregnant fiancée and their first daughter, as well as their unborn daughter. Calling his family "the crown jewel of my life", Tom said:
"And to my favorite actor in this room, my love, my best friend, my partner, the very pregnant Kaley- I love you more than anything, and our family is the crown jewel of my life. Matilda, Daddy loves you. Baby girl in that belly, Daddy loves you. Thank you, God bless."
