And one couple, who has always awestricken everyone with their camaraderie is Ajay Devgn and Kajol. She is a live wire and he is a shy and introvert man, Kajol and Ajay Devgn are the perfect examples of how opposites attract. Their love story is quite unusual, Kajol was one of the top-notched actresses of the 90s and he was a less-successful actor. Her decision of getting married to Ajay came as surprise to her fans, friends and even her family. Critics had labelled them as an ‘unlikely pair’, many had commented that they would not last because of their contrasting personalities. But as they say, somethings are meant to be and so were Ajay and Kajol. Even after so many years of marriage, one look at them makes our hearts flutter.
We recently stumbled upon a video where Kajol’s mother, Tanuja ji had revealed how her daughter had broken the news of being madly-in-love with Ajay. In the talk show, It’s My Life, actress-turned talk show host, Raveena Tandon had asked veteran actress and Kajol’s mother, Tanuja ji how Kajol had confessed of her love for Ajay and what was her reaction. To this Tanuja ji had recalled the day when Kajol had revealed that she was in love and his name was Ajay. And Tanuja ji’s was simply impressed with her daughter’s choice. Take a look at the video:
Kajol and Ajay Devgn had begun dating each other while shooting for the film, Gundaraj in 1994. The beautiful couple had gotten married to each other on February 24, 1999, in a true Maharashtrian style. The couple had never resorted to the usual ‘I love you’ and there was no dreamy proposal either. The decision to get married was quite mature and both had grown with each other. Ajay had wanted the wedding to be a private affair and do you know, he had not even hired professional photographers for the wedding. In Neha Dhupia’s chat show, No Filter Neha, Kajol had opened up about her marriage and how besides both their parents, nobody else wanted both of them to get married. Talking about the same she had mentioned that even her father was a little sceptical about her getting married to Ajay. She had revealed how her father had enquired why would she want to get married at such a young age and at the peak of her career, to which she had replied that she was in love with Ajay and had wanted to settle down.
She had also stated that since many people had thought that they were completely different people, how will they survive marriage. Revealing the secret behind not only surviving the marriage but completely rocking it, Kajol had revealed that the credit goes to their kids. She had retorted that their kids were their lifelines and in the process of raising them, they had become one and they are the reason how they had sustained the marriage.
Kajol is known for her effortless acting and is applauded for her versatility. She had tied the knot with Ajay when she was at the peak of her professional life. In an interview with IANS, when the beautiful actress was asked why she had decided to settle down at the time when her career was flourishing, she had stated, “It was the right thing for me to do at that point of time. I had been already working for around eight and a half to nine years. So, I was ready to kind of calm down on my work front and kind of take it easier.” She had further added that she was doing four to five films a year and didn’t want to do it the rest of her life. That was the moment when she had decided that she would get married and do one film a year and would be happier like that.
She had taken a sabbatical after the birth of her daughter, Nysa and had made her comeback with the film, Fanaa, which was again applauded by her fans and critics. Just like any other couple, Ajay and Kajol too had their shares of ups and downs. Sometime back, a popular magazine had published Ajay’s alleged affair with a young actress. It was Kajol, who stood by her husband and lashed out at the rumours. She had reacted strongly and had stated, “I don't believe in those rumours because I know the way this industry functions. You cannot continue a marriage without basic trust.
