'The Adventures Of Cliff Booth' On Netflix, A New Chapter In 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' Story

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is finally getting a sequel, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the first film was a big success when it was released in 2019, collecting more than USD 300 million at the box office. Leonardo DiCaprio played the lead along with Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. While Quentin planned a lot of other projects related to the film, including a TV show and a stage adaptation, the sequel has now created a different kind of excitement.

The teaser for the film was revealed at Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026. It was disclosed during a commercial break during the first quarter of the game, and it shows 'Cliff Booth,' portrayed by Brad Pitt in the original film. The Adventures of Cliff Booth won’t be released on the big screen

The first film was a theatrical release in 2019. However, the makers won’t follow the same format this time. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be streaming directly on Netflix. But a release date has not been revealed yet, except that it is scheduled to arrive in theatres sometime in 2026. The decision for direct release on Netflix has emerged from a collaboration with the theatre chain, AMC, which was originally announced in 2025. Notably, The Adventures of Cliff Booth will also get a limited release in theatres along with Netflix after KPop Demon Hunters and the finale of Stranger Things Season 5. 

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will reportedly be set in a different time period

The teaser of The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which was released at Super Bowl LX, featured a glimpse of 'Cliff.' Booth says that he is not talented, but he is well aware of how to get in the way of a good story. The teaser has confirmed for now that the film will completely focus on 'Cliff Booth.' Director Quentin Tarantino’s friend, Sean Fennessey, said in an interview in 2025 that the upcoming film should not be considered as a sequel and should be seen as a follow-up.

Sean Fennessey claimed in his interview that the film is linked to the same world that was featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Sean said that the actors are going to be different, along with the storyline, and it will be set in the year 1977. This also means that the events of the sequel will happen eight years after the original film. The film has been made on a budget of USD 200 million.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will feature many new faces among the cast members

As mentioned, Brad Pitt will portray 'Cliff Booth' in The Adventures of Cliff Booth. Others who would be a part of the cast include Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, and Holt McCallany. Apart from them, Timothy Olyphant will appear as 'James Stacy.' Furthermore, Corey Fogekmanis, JB Tadena, Karren Karagulian, Barry Livingston, Lauren Glazier, and Peter Weller have been chosen to play important roles. Moreover, David Fincher is replacing Quentin Tarantino in the director’s seat this time.
