Nancy Guthrie's Missing Case Took The Cops To A Septic Tank And Manhole Behind Her Arizona Home

For the past week, search operations have been conducted for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today host, Savannah Guthrie, who went missing from her residence on February 1, 2026. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been investigating the case from many angles and monitoring every detail. However, the search for Nancy took the cops to a septic tank near the 84-year-old's home.

Nancy Guthrie’s family agrees to pay the ransom

Earlier, several media outlets, including TMZ, received alleged ransom notes demanding millions in Bitcoin for Nancy Guthrie's safe return to her home. Former FBI agent, Lance Leising revealed that it is "very odd" for ransom notes to be sent to media outlets rather than the family if the primary goal is financial gain.

On February 6, 2026, another message was shared with a hidden IP address, according to the authorities. While the details of the message haven't been disclosed, Savannah, in a new video with her siblings, agreed to pay the alleged sender while asking for their mom's safe return. Savannah could be quoted as saying:

"We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay."

Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera may have recorded her abductor

Previously, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also informed that there was no activity at the house until 1:47 a.m., when Nancy's doorbell camera disconnected. The doorbell camera's software detected someone, but the video isn’t available. The camera broadcast the live feed, but couldn’t automatically save the video without a subscription plan. Nanos revealed that investigators reached out to the doorbell camera’s manufacturer for access to any data it recorded the night Nancy was abducted. But there was no way to recover any video that night as Nancy did not have a subscription.
