Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAfter the release of Netflix's true-crime documentary, Maternal Instinct, people's interest in Taylor Parker has increased. She is a Texas woman who got a death sentence for killing her pregnant friend and her unborn baby in 2020. Meanwhile, a newly released audio recording related to the case has surfaced online, revealing a phone conversation between Taylor and her daughter.Â
According to news outlets, the audio was taken from the Bowie County Court. It features a conversation between Taylor Parker, her daughter, Emersyn and Taylor's mother, Shona Prior. Incidentally, the call is completely different from the crimes, which eventually led to Taylor's conviction and death sentence. During the chat, Emersyn excitedly told her mother about the early Christmas gifts she got. It included sapphire-and-diamond jewellery; she also mentioned that her younger brother, Trey, got a cross necklace. In turn, Taylor responded warmly, as any parent would, listening to their child talk about their everyday life. Eventually, the jail's automated system announced that the call was ending.Â

The audio went viral just as Netflix's documentary, Maternal Instinct, introduced the case to a wider audience. It also showcases the trial in her case and the evidence presented by the prosecutors, who argued that Taylor carefully planned the crime. In fact, she pretended to be pregnant for several months. Previously, news reports and other materials related to the case, including a prison Havre where Taylor asked her former boyfriend's father for forgiveness, also surfaced. In fact, the call made to 911 after Taylor claimed that she had just given birth also went viral.Â

According to prosecutors, Taylor spent nearly 10 months pretending to be pregnant despite undergoing a hysterectomy years ago. In turn, it made it impossible for her to be pregnant. When the fake due date approached, she allegedly targeted her 35-weeks pregnant, 21-year-old friend, Regan Simmons-Hancock. Authorities said that Taylor went to Regan's home in New Boston on October 9, 2020. There, she attacked her friend with multiple weapons before cutting the unborn baby from her womb. Later, Taylor drove with the infant and told medical staff that she had given birth herself. However, doctors quickly found out that Taylor had not had a recent delivery and called law enforcement.Â

In turn, Taylor was arrested shortly thereafter, and investigators pieced together the sequence of events that occurred at Simmons-Hancock's home. Later, during her 2022 trial, prosecutors argued that the entire fake pregnancy was carefully planned, and the jury found her guilty of capital murder.Â
Taylor Parker's attack claimed the lives of both Regan Simmons-Hancock and her unborn daughter, Braxlynn Sage Hancock. Regan died from her injuries during the assault; the baby died later when she was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Taylor is alive and presently incarcerated on Texas's death row. She also became the youngest woman on the state's death row following her conviction in 2022. However, the case has become one of the state's most widely discussed criminal cases in recent years. On the other hand, her kids have continued to live their lives away from the public spotlight.Â
