Amid her years-long feud with her ex and baby daddy, Dakota Mortensen, the reality star now admits that she slept with Dakota while she was still engaged to Bachelorette winner Doug Mason.
Fans have been wondering for months about what happened behind the scenes of Paul's unaired season of The Bachelorette, and why the production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was abruptly paused. With all five episodes of Season 5 now streaming, viewers finally have some bombshell revelations.
Taylor Frankie Paul admits to cheating on her then-fiancé, Doug Mason, with Dakota Mortensen
Paul returned to Utah from The Bachelorette engaged to Mason, but according to the new episodes of SLMW, she almost immediately reconnected with Mortensen, her longtime ex and father of her son, Ever. Speaking to her Mormon Wives co-stars, she admitted that she slept with Dakota after returning home, despite still being engaged to Doug.
"I don't like the word cheating, though," Paul said while discussing the situation with co-stars Jessi Draper, Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley. She later admitted that she didn't want to tell Doug what happened, even though she knew she eventually had to. The situation became even more complicated as things dragged on.

Taylor kept on communicating with Dakota the whole time. Reflecting on that period, the reality star compares her connection with Dakota to an addiction. "When you have an addiction, there's not a lot of things that are more powerful than that drug," she says, describing the cycle that has repeatedly pulled her back toward him.
The relationship drama eventually leads Paul to end her engagement to Doug. Speaking about her years-long on-and-off romance with Dakota, Taylor said it was a toxic cycle that she couldn't get herself out of. In her words:
"Dakota was the first time I truly was in love with someone, someone I wanted to marry and be with forever, and it literally has destroyed me. I want to get out of this and never do it again and learn this lesson; there’s just something in my brain that will not click."
What led to the SLMW production to abruptly pause?
Dakota Johnson was certainly not the only ghost of Taylor's past that reappeared after her engagement. After her return from The Bachelorette, she also reconnected with Ben Lambert, a musician viewers first met during Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. At the same time, she was seeing Dakota as well.
Taylor reveals she and Ben began talking again, speaking for hours after he allegedly reached out to her. And that's not all; she eventually secretly brought Ben to New York while her fellow MomTok co-stars were in town to see Whitney Leavitt perform in Chicago. Taylor had allegedly hidden Ben in her hotel room, but Mayci and Mikayla eventually discovered him.
The revelation left the Mormon wives stunned, even more so because Doug still had no idea about most of the things happening behind his back. Taylor later started questioning whether she was ready to pursue another serious relationship with Ben, especially because he has made it clear that he's looking for a girlfriend and eventually, a wife.

Reflecting on the situation, Taylor admitted that she isn't completely healed and worries that she could sabotage something healthy with Ben. Dakota, meanwhile, acknowledged that despite everything, he was still emotionally attached to Taylor. In one scene, he tells Zac Affleck that, "in a perfect world," he would want to reconcile with her. He even admits, "Am I a little addicted? Absolutely."
The relationship drama takes yet another explosive turn when Taylor tells her friends that she is done with Dakota. Around the same time, she fills them in with news of yet another incident involving her ex, which then leads directly into the real-life controversy that resulted in production being paused.
In the season finale, Paul can be seen telling the women that she won't be filming after another incident involving Mortensen, and that one of his friends contacted Child Protective Services following a fight between them. Viewers then see a title card revealing that production was paused.
We all know what happened after that. Taylor and Dakota's leaked video and domestic violence lawsuit reached a point where ABC had to cancel Taylor's season of The Bachelorette.
