'Taare Zameen Par' Fame, Darsheel Safary Reveals If Dad, Mitesh Asked For 2 Crore As His Acting Fees

The chartbuster movie, Taare Zameen Par was released in 2007, which had addressed so many issues that are often ignored or kept under the wraps. The film had taken us on a rollercoaster of emotions, and most of us could not control our tears. Apart from Aamir Khan, the actor who had stolen the limelight was the debutante then-child actor, Darsheel Safary. He had portrayed the character of Ishaan Avasthi, a child who was facing dyslexia and was sent away to a boarding school.

More than a decade had passed since the release of Taare Zameen Par, and Darsheel does not look anything like his old self. Instead, the Bumm Bumm Bole fame has turned into a 25-year-old handsome hunk who thought he would be established as an actor at 25 but life was not a bed of roses for him. Now, Darsheel has talked about the bullying he had faced in school after the release of Taare Zameen Par, his relationship status, and spilt the beans if his dad had asked for two crores rupees as fees after his debut movie with Aamir Khan.

In an interview with the ETimes, Darsheel Safary disclosed how his school seniors, family members, and society had treated him after his immensely successful film, Taare Zameen Par. Recalling the bullying he had faced, Darsheel shared:

"I faced bullying in school by my seniors. Even my watchman in my building has a certain fixed notion about actors. Worse, you are not even aware that the world is looking at you with different eyes. Even your family starts looking at you differently at least to some extent. Let me take you back to the first day I went to school after 'TZP' was released. I was surrounded. My tie was pulled. I had to take a half-day to save myself. Today, however, I understand that an actor has to be prepared for such things."

Back in 2007, rumours were rife that after the release of Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel's father, Mitesh Safary had asked for two crore rupees as the former's acting fees for the director, Ajay Monga's film. Further in the interview, Darsheel was asked to shed light on this rumour. To this, Darsheel said that he shares a warm bond with the director, Monga and if there were any truth to this gossip, he would have known. He stated:

"I had met Mr Monga and it didn't work out. That's all I remember. I don't know how that buzz originated. Honestly, I don't know what had actually transpired. Lekin agar maanga hota, toh aaj tak toh mujhe pata chal gaya hota (I would have known by today at least if there was any truth to it). The beauty is that Mr Monga and I met a few years ago at an event. We were very good with each other. We spoke quite happily with each other."

When Darsheel was asked about his relationship status in the same conversation, he mentioned that he would like to keep it away from the media glare. Calling his relationship status 'complicated', he said:

"I am not very comfortable with this question. If I say 'yes', I might be asked to reveal her name. Let's say 'It's complicated'. It's a cool way to be neutral (laughs)."
