Sydney Towle reflected on the happiest month of her life
Previously, Sydney Towle took to her Instagram handle in April 2026 to share an update about her health. She explained how she was away from social media for a brief period in the month because she temporarily stopped her chemotherapy. The decision was made before her upcoming surgery.
Meanwhile, the break from her treatment helped Sydney enjoy everyday life, something she had not done in a long time. Being away from the hospital and treatment made her experience the real joy of life. At the same time, she visited Florida for a brand trip. In turn, she got some relaxing time with her friends and stayed busy with different activities. Sharing her feelings over it, she penned:
"April has probably been the best month of my entire life."
Sydney explained that it was the first time in months she had not been constantly thinking about hospital visits or treatment. Instead, the break allowed her to momentarily forget that she was living with cancer. Simultaneously, the 26-year-old admitted to her followers that the feeling sounded unusual to her. However, it also gave her a glimpse of how joyful life could still be. In her words:
"And it's because I forgot that I have cancer. That sounds so silly to say, but when you're so busy, and you're not getting treatment, and you're just having fun with your friends... it just reminded me of how good life can be."
Sydney also mentioned how all the chemotherapy and surgeries were extremely difficult and painful. In fact, there were a situations when she thought she might never have the energy to enjoy life. Still, she spent time with her famipy and friends. Together, they went to Coachella. So, the whole traveling and fun filled her days with joy.
Later, Sydney informed her followers that she was going to undergo surgery. It was a part of the clinical trial through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). They called it the first step in a new treatment plan.
But before things go move ahead, Sydney Towle died at 26 after battling a rare cancer on August 5, 2026. Before her death, the influencer fought a tough battle with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma for three years. It is a rare and aggressive kind of bile duct cancer.
Just one day before her death, Sydney's brother, Austin Towle, revealed that she was moved into hospice care. In turn, she was surrounded by family members and close friends during her final hours. Apart from sharing the update, Austin expressed gratitude to her supporters for the love and support they gave Sydney over time.
In the weeks leading up to the hospice update, Towle had continued sharing emotional messages from her hospital bed. In one of her final Instagram posts, she reflected on spending a month in the hospital before ending the heartfelt message by writing, "Crazy. Life is a dream."
All about Sydney Towle's battle with cancer
Sydney Towle was diagnosed with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in 2023. In fact, she was just 23 and looking to start her life after completing her education when doctors found an 11-centimeter tumor in her body.
Eventually, she underwent chemotherapy and a major liver surgery where nearly 80% of her liver was removed. But, the treatments did not work out, and cancer had spread to her lungs. Yet, she participated in clinical trials for different treatment options.
Instead of hiding her diagnosis, Sydney openly shared her journey with others. At the time of her death, she had already gained a following of more than one million on TikTok and Instagram. Sydney was admired for her honest conversations about cancer, her interest in travel, friendships, and everyday life.
The 26-year-old was a graduate of Dartmouth College and worked in the marketing sector for a while. At the same time, she began her podcast Happy to Be Here. It mostly focused on her journey, gratitude, and self-care. Sydney also participated in modeling at Miami Swim Week to represent post-cancer bodies and raise awareness about it.
