Sydney Sweeney has again been gaining limelight as 'Cassie' from Euphoria Season 3. The show has been leading fan discussion forums due to its controversial storyline, particularly 'Cassie's' OnlyFans puppy roleplay and her cosplay as a baby, wearing nothing but a diaper. The actress has been getting intense online scrutiny due to her adult scenes and nudity.

After Euphoria season 3’s finale, Syndney Sweeney defended her role and took a dig at the critics for scrutinising her for her controversial role on the show. Taking to her social media handle, Sydney shared a carousel of photos taken on the set of Euphoria. The photos featured Sydney in her bold avatar and quickly spread among fans as it features many bold pictures from the current as well as previous seasons.

In one picture, Sydney was seen in her popular “puppy” costume. In another image she was seen in a wedding dress with a bloodied nose while sitting next to Jacob Elordi’s character, 'Nate Jacobs'. However, her picture with a snake wrapped around her raised many eyebrows as she had gone topless in the picture. By taking a clear dig at critics and social media users, Sydney captioned the pictures as, “It’s called… acting.”

In one of the episodes of Euphoria season 3, Sydney Sweeney became the center of all conversations as her character, 'Cassie Howard' had a wild sex scene with her co-star, Homer Gere, aka, ‘Dylan Reid’ in the series. In the scene, Sydney goes topless as she indulged in a steamy sex scene, wrecking the aesthetics of the room.

Sydney Sweeney shared her father's strong reaction to her nude scenes in Euphoria

The actress faced intense online scrutiny due to her character's unjustifiable actions and for portraying adult scenes and nudity. During one of her interviews, she discussed the same, sharing how her parents and grandparents reacted to her scenes where she's almost unclad. The 28-year-old actress was quoted by Us Weekly as saying that her mom was supportive of her work and even visited her on sets. But her dad was opposite as she revealed:

"My mom visited me on set at the time, so she knew the story, and I talked to her a lot about it ...my dad didn't. Yeah, I didn't prepare my dad...at all."

Sydney usually maintains a good relationship with her father; however, she didn't know how to bring up the topic of her racy scenes. She revealed that her dad watched Euphoria with her grandparents, and that, too, without telling Sydney. However, the result wasn't that great, as when her nude scenes appeared, the two men turned it off and took off.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Sweeney spoke about the online criticism for her bold scenes. She expressed frustration with how audiences blend her personal identity with the roles she plays, specifically her portrayal of 'Cassie Howard' in Euphoria. She even felt that her on-screen nudity led to her being reduced to a "sex symbol" label that overshadows her performance as an actor. Speaking about the same, she shared:

“People forget that I'm playing a character, they think, 'Oh, she gets naked on-screen, she's a sex symbol. And I can't get past that. I have no problems with those scenes, and I won't stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we're assuming about actors in the industry."
