Sharing details of the same, Sushmita Sen revealed that she was sent to Mexico as a chief guest along with a series of dignified people. At the mere age of 18, she was given the place of the head of the table, and it was a nervous moment for her as she could barely speak English back then. Revealing how she was starving and because she wasn't aware of table manners back in that time, she was navigated through the seven-course meal by someone else. The actress said:

"I'm at the head of the table, I'm 18 years old, I barely speak English. I'm getting it together at that point and Barbara, my travel manager sitting to my right and thereafter beyond Barbara are all men. I'm starving, I'm smiling at my travel manager saying 'I'm very hungry'. Then I bend over like 'I'm very hungry Barbara.' She's like 'So are they and you're the chief guest, you need to start.'"

Further, in the same interview, Sushmita Sen stated that soon after coming from the event, she started taking dining etiquette from a San Franciso-based teacher. The actress practised multiple types of etiquettes, including dining etiquette with her. Recalling the important lessons which she learned from her teacher, Sushmita stated that she was told to always go to a dining party with her tummy full. Recalling the same, she said:

"This is when I went to Barbra and I came back to Miss Universe organisation and I said I need to learn because I felt very out of place and I don't want to feel like this again so they. One of the things I learnt from her was, 'Pet bhar kar kha kar jaao ghar se. So that you do not have the urge to eat at the dinner table and you can elegantly say, 'No more, thank you', and they will assume you follow a strict diet."
