As per July 27, 2026 reports, Suri Noelle has taken a major step to define her relationship with her father, Tom Cruise. She legally changed her last name to Noelle, dropping her famous Cruise surname. Even official voter registration records from her college's address, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, include her new legal identity, Suri Noelle. That confirms that the legal procedure to alter her surname is complete.

Reports suggest that 20-year-old Suri finalized the legal process in New York before moving. She previously used the name Suri Noelle in her June 2024 high school graduation pamphlet at LaGuardia High School and also for her professional ventures. As for the reason for choosing 'Noelle', it is a homage to her mother, whose full name is Katie Noelle Holmes. Suri's latest legal move drove the final nail in the father-daughter estrangement that has lasted years.
Tom Cruise has been publicly estranged from Suri for over a decade following his 2012 divorce from Katie Holmes. Reports stated that the actor hadn't met his daughter in 11 years. Their last public appearance together was in April 2013, and according to multiple sources, it was Tom who chose not to see his estranged daughter at that time. In response, Suri chose to drop her father's last name and adopt her mother's middle name.

As per the report, Suri became a millionaire after her trust fund from Tom Cruise kicked in. They further alleged that she received the massive amount only after she turned 18. Due to the detailed claims made by the media outlet, many believed the trust fund narrative.
However, Katie Holmes swiftly appeared to set things straight, promptly refuting the report of Suri's millionaire status. She shared a screenshot of the article on social media and wrote that the report was absolutely untrue and baseless. Katie slammed the media outlet for allegedly publishing false stuff about them and misleading the public. Her exact words were:
"[The report is] completely false. Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up."

Amid the trust fund claims, some other reports suggested that Tom Cruise had "abandoned" his daughter due to her opting out of Scientology. The actor refuted the allegations and sued the media outlet for the same. Notably, the allegation of abandonment stemmed from Suri opting out of Tom's faith, Scientology, after his divorce from Katie.
Scientology deems anyone who leaves the faith a 'suppressive person,' and encourages remaining members in the same family to cut them off. The rumors were fuelled when Tom admitted that Scientology played a role in his 2012 divorce from Katie during a legal deposition.
