Sunita Ahuja, famous actor, Govinda's wife, is known for her unfiltered remarks. She often shares glimpses of her personal life on her YouTube channel, whether visiting temples or discussing her spiritual journey. Recently, Sunita made an appearance on the hit reality TV show, Laughter Chefs 3. What caught everyone's eyes here was not only Sunita's reunion with her nephew, Krushna Abhishek and his wife, Kashmera Shah, but the fresh dig that she took at Govinda.
During the recent episode of Laughter Chefs 3, Sunita Ahuja brought up the widely reported October 2024 incident where her husband, Govinda, accidentally shot himself in the leg. She jokingly told Krushna Abhishek's wife, "Kashmera, I want to tell you one thing, the guy who respects his wife is a hero. Joh ankhiyon se goli maarta hai, jahaan third party pe chala jaata hai...toh ghutno pe goli maare," a cheeky wordplay on Govinda's very popular song, Akhiyon Se Goli Maare.

In response, Krushna Abhishek said that he did not know whether to take Sunita's side or Govinda's. Although he did reveal that seeing his aunt made some big superstars in the industry tremble. To this, Sunita laughed and replied that, on top of trembling, they also disappeared.

In another segment of the Laughter Chefs 3 episode, Nia Sharma, speaking of her pairing with comedian, Sudesh Lehri, said, “Acchi pairing nahi hai, na maza nahi aaya, na?” Following this, Kashmera joked about how her husband, Krushna, wanted to pair with Nia. Sunita soon quipped by saying:
“Nahi nahi, inn log ki aadat hai. Goli maarne padti hai inn logon ko.”

For those unaware, the incident involving Govinda happened while he was handling his licensed revolver in his home in Mumbai. At the time, Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, told ANI, "Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licenced revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg." According to reports, Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Andheri West, where doctors removed the bullet and kept the actor under observation in the ICU. Thankfully, despite the significant blood loss, Govinda's injury was not life-threatening, and he was later discharged after treatment.

Back when the shooting incident occurred, many had speculated that there might be some type of foul play involved. However, Govinda's family members, including his niece, rubbished the rumours by clarifying that it was a freak accident that happened while the actor was handling his licensed firearm as usual, and there was no external involvement.

Even before Govinda became one of the most well-known faces in Bollywood in the 1990s, his relationship with Sunita Ahuja had already begun. Apparently, Sunita is related to him through his maternal family, and the duo met for the first time when both of them were very young. They decided to tie the knot quietly in March 1987, as at the time, Govinda was just stepping into films.
Govinda and Sunita successfully managed to keep their marriage hidden from the public eye for several years, only revealing it after they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Tina Ahuja. Later, the couple also welcomed a son named Yashvardhan Ahuja. While Tina has already acted in films, at present, Yashvardhan is preparing for his Bollywood debut.

Govinda is best known for films like Coolie No. 1, Bhagam Bhag, Raja Babu, Partner, Base Miyan Chote Miyan, Aankhen, and Dulhe Raja, to name a few. Recently, he has been grabbing headlines for his personal life, especially with Sunita often hinting that he has been involved in multiple affairs.
