Suede Brooks Sets The Record Straight On Her Hookup Narrative With Drake, 'He Came Onto Our Program'

Popular YouTuber and reality TV star Suede Brooks is finally here to address the longstanding speculation about her alleged romance with Drake. Speaking to Bunnie Xo on her podcast, the Calabasas Confidential star confirmed that she and Drake briefly dated in 2022 and eventually had a frightening breakup, adding that the public has twisted the narrative of how their brief fling actually began.

Suede Brooks says the internet got the Drake story wrong

Appearing on the June 28, 2026, episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast, Brooks revisited the moment she first met the Grammy-winning rapper, explaining that Drake wasn't hosting the event where they crossed paths. When they started dating in 2022, the reality TV star was 21 years old, and Drake was 35.

After the two started getting spotted together, vacationing in Saint-Tropez on a yacht, fans believed that Brooks had pursued the Hotline Bling singer. In reality, the Calabasas Confidential star says it was actually the other way around. She said he had been hired to perform at a party on a yacht owned by her friend's family, where Drake had also arrived with friends to perform during the party. Brooks said:

"I feel like the narrative that was spun was like I kind of stepped onto his territory. When in reality, no—he came onto our program."

The pair were first romantically linked in July 2022 after they were photographed together in Saint-Tropez, fueling widespread dating rumors that neither publicly addressed at the time. Brooks has now confirmed that she and Drake had indeed 'hooked up,' revealing that she and Drake dated 'on and off' for several months. 

Brooks recalled traveling to Toronto to spend time with the rapper before eventually deciding the relationship wasn't right for her. She suggested their lifestyles were simply incompatible, saying she couldn't keep up with Drake's demanding schedule and global fame. She recalled how after a few months, "I was like, 'I'm tired of this.' "

Brooks says she feared for her safety after the breakup

The conversation later took a more serious turn as Brooks claimed the breakup left her feeling fearful. She alleged that after ending the relationship, she received text messages from Drake that she interpreted as threatening. One particular message that allegedly warned her that the Iceman rapper was going to have "bitches fold me up" made her believe that the whole situation was the work of some misunderstanding. 

Brooks later realized that Drake had mistakenly thought she had been spreading false narratives and speaking negatively about him in Los Angeles. However, the threatening messages had deeply affected her, leaving her so shaken that she avoided leaving her home for months. She told Bunnie Xo:

"When you hear those things said to you, coming from the most powerful artist in the world, that has so much power and can do things, the unimaginable, within the snap of a finger. It was very scary. ... I didn't leave my house for like three months. I didn't step outside because I was scared."

The admiration is still there

Brooks admitted that her romance with Drake, though brief, was a fun experience. Despite the challenging aftermath of the breakup, the reality star stressed that she doesn't hold resentment toward the rapper. The 24-year-old described Drake as "one of the funniest people" she's ever met and praised both his personality and talent, suggesting emotions were running high for both of them during the breakup. Brooks added that she still believes Drake has "a great heart" and hopes he eventually finds lasting happiness. In her words:

"When I was with him and hanging out with him, he was so fun. He has the biggest personality; he’s honestly one of the funniest people I know. ... I know he's grown a lot from it, and I know I've grown a lot from it. I wish him nothing but the best. It wasn't me, and I got to a point where I physically and emotionally couldn't give him what he needed."

With her new revelation, it brings to a close the years-long speculation about Drake's fling with the reality star.
