Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been all the rage among Marvel fans ever since it was released. For those unaware, the film dropped in theatres on July 31, 2026 (ET). The film marks the debut of Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink in the Spider-Man franchise, while also starring the OG trio, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon. Now, Jacob is speaking out about how his friendships with his co-stars make him feel like they are his family.

Jacob Batalon on sharing his Spider-Man journey with Tom Holland and Zendaya

Those who have been following Jacob Batalon’s journey in the Spider-Man franchise might already be aware that his character has been by ‘Spider-Man’s’ side for nearly a decade. The actor, who is currently 29 years old, first teamed up with his co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

After the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jacob opened up about how it felt watching Tom and Zendaya grow up alongside him as both actors and as people throughout the years. Speaking with People, he kept his answer simple and said:

“Really great. I’ve known them for a long time. Just knowing them as people, they’ve really worked hard for what they have, and they’re gracious. [They’re] just truly the most professional people ever. I’m really, really happy I can call them my family.”

Since starring in Spider-Man: Homecoming together nearly 10 years ago, Tom, Zendaya, and Jacob have reunited in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and most recently, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In the movies, Jacob has played the role of ‘Peter Parker’s’ best friend, ‘Ned Leeds’, who is not only loyal but also incredibly hilarious and tech-savvy.

Fans love how the duo’s friendship has become one of the most defining relationships in the franchise. Jacob revealed that his stepping into the shoes of ‘Ned’ once again after all these years is truly meaningful. He was quoted as saying:

“It’s beautiful. A lot of my journey in the industry really started because of Spider-Man, obviously. I’ve been very lucky and fortunate throughout those 10 years to really create and grow and be a part of really special things.”

Jacob added that this is the case not just for Spider-Man but for his entire career. He said that it has been “a blessing” to give fans the things that they deserve and they love.

Due to their decade-long history, Jacob said that the emotional scenes that he had to film for Brand New Day became an even more special experience. One of the most noteworthy scenes was where ‘Peter’ and ‘Ned’ instinctively performed their signature handshake. This was despite the memory-altering events we have previously seen in No Way Home. Jacob confessed that slipping back into the moment with his co-star Tom Holland was completely effortless. In his words:

“Whenever we see each other, we’re not naturally doing that handshake, but I think because we first made it up when we were 19. We had to do it all throughout the first three movies, so I think it really just sunk in there. It felt like two friends who got to see each other again after a long absence.”

Jacob Batalon reveals if he and his Spider-Man co-stars would return for another movie

At present, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is continuing its record-breaking run at the global box office. Jacob Batalon admitted that after this, if another adventure did come calling, he would be more than happy to return. Also speaking on behalf of his co-stars, he said, “I’d be open to the idea for sure. I think we all are.”
