Priyanka Chopra's brother-in-law, Joe Jonas has been grabbing a lot of limelight off lately. The singer's personal life has become the talk of the town ever since he announced his divorce from his estranged wife, Sophie Turner. For the unversed, reports about the problems in their marriage were rife in the media for quite some time. However, the duo put an end to all the rumours when they announced their separation on September 6, 2023. And now, amid all this, Sophie sued her estranged husband and demanded the return of their daughters.
According to a report in People, it is revealed that Sophie Turner sued her estranged husband, Joe Jonas. As per the report, the Games of Thrones actress filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court and demanded their daughters' return to England. Moreover, as per the lawsuit, Sophie took the action owing to the wrongful retainment of her kids by Joe. Further, the report claimed that since Sophie was busy with the filming of her upcoming film, Joan, she and Joe agreed to let their daughters join him on the tour. Mentioning that the singer would have more time for the girls in the daytime, the report claimed that the actress, however, was hesitant about their arrangement.

According to the report, Sophie and Joe met on September 17, 2023, to discuss further arrangements. During their meeting, the former reiterated their agreement for their daughters to return to England. However, allegedly, Joe refused to send the kids with Sophie and even didn't return their daughters' passports. The document stated:
"The Father has possession of the children's passports. He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother."
According to the People report, Sophie's petition claimed that she and Joe jointly made England their permanent home as they wanted their kids to attend school there only. Further, the report stated that in Joe's divorce filings, he had incorrectly claimed that his kids were in Florida for six months before he filed for the divorce. In her lawsuit, Sophie also stated that she and Joe's split happened very suddenly after they had an argument on August 15, 2023. However, the actress learned about their split from the media days after Joe filed for divorce.
For the unversed, Sophie submitted her petition for the return of her kids to England with the Central Authority for England and Wales. The actress, in her petition, stated that she "never consented or acquiesced to the removal of the children from England". The petition was filed through the child abduction clauses of the Hague Convention.

For the unversed, it was on September 6, 2023, when Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas announced their separation. Sharing the same picture notes on their respective IG handles, the duo penned a note about their divorce and called it a mutual and amicable decision. Their note could be read as:
"Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
