Sophia Bush appeared on the October 21, 2026, episode of Call Her Daddy and got candid about her personal life and career. However, what really caught everyone's attention was when she revealed that she still talks to women whom the world thinks she would never even reach out to. Bush shared that not only are they friends, but she genuinely cherishes the bond they share.
The actress told Alex Cooper that she feels like a badass when she looks at the women. Sophia Bush further joked that her ex-husband, Chad Michael Murray, did have great taste in women. Bush explained that she was able to maintain these friendships because they've evolved into "completely different people from who we were [then]." She was quoted as saying:
"I wrote about some of the friendships I made with women who I think the world would probably think I would never speak to, that I really cherish. And frankly, when I look at the landscape, I'm like, badass, badass, badass, badass. You did have great taste, bro, and like, congrats, you crushed it. I'm like, 'I get it.' I'm just like, 'Damn.' Like, in a lineup, I'd take any one of us."

While Chad Michael Murray never publicly responded to the allegations of cheating on Sophia Bush, he did react to his ex-girlfriend, Erin Foster, alleging that he cheated on her with Bush. In 2023, Murray told E! News that he was not the same young man he was back then, and he doesn't want to go down that road, and instead just keep focusing on his present and future. He was quoted as saying:
"It's not one of those things that I want to go down the road of because there's just never a winner. I feel blessed to be where I am right now. I live in the now, I live in the present, I live in the future. Things have changed so dramatically for me since I was a young man that I just try to live in this space—always."
According to reports, Sophia Bush met Chad Michael Murray on the set of One Tree Hill and began dating in 2003. They married two years later, when Bush was 22, and Murray was 23. However, their marital bliss was short-lived, and they separated five months later. They finalized their divorce in December 2006.
In And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress, the actress made a rare exception to her silence about her marriage to Murray. Sophia Bush said that healing from what happened helped her feel more comfortable about her relationship with Chad Michael Murray. She was quoted as saying:
"When I said I don't want to write about it at all, my editor was like, 'I hate to break it to you. Google exists.' We were kids; we're all adults; we're all parents. No harm, no foul. Wish you well. Praise the adult you are. Hope it's mutual."
In her memoir, Sophia Bush recalled that One Tree Hill costar Hilarie Burton warned her against dating Chad Michael Murray. She told Alex Cooper that Burton had previously worked with Murray and it "wasn't a great experience." Bush called it "good advice" and said that she didn't have the experience to understand what was going on. She recalled how there was a time when her friends used to joke, "Look up gullible in the dictionary, and you'll see her face.'"
