April 20 marked the wedding anniversary of Alia Bhatt's parents, actress, Soni Razdan and filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt. The duo got married in the year 1986. However, it was on April 20, 2023, when the veteran actress, Soni Razdan took to her social media handle to wish hubby, Mahesh, on their anniversary. Soni shared a picture from Alia's wedding album featuring her and Mahesh all decked up in traditional attires. Sharing the photo, the actress penned an emotional note.
Alia's mom, Soni Razdan, took to her IG handle to share a beautiful picture, where we can see her standing alongside her hubby, Mahesh Bhatt. Soni looked super aesthetic as she donned a brownish-nude-hued six yards of pure grace. The actress matched her light-coloured saree with a gorgeous three-quarter-sleeved green blouse. She looked breathtaking as she enhanced her desi look with matching jewellery. Mahesh Bhatt, on the other hand, looked dapper in an all-white OOTD as he opted for a sequined kurta and white pyjama.

Sharing the picture on her IG handle, Soni penned an emotional note for hubby. In the caption, Soni shared how she met Mahesh through one of her friends. She further added it is a very long story, and she just wants to share how they met and fell in love with each other. The actress addressed her hubby as baby and wrote:
"The story of us: One day out of the blue I got a call from a friend, who wanted me to meet a man called Mahesh Bhatt… acha chodo ab… bahut lambi kahani hai (let's not get into it, a long story it is). Phir kabhi (let's save it for some other time). Main point yeh hai ki (the point is) we met, fell in love at some point and here we are many moons later. Happy anniversary baby. We really have come a long way."
For the unversed, filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt's first girlfriend was Lorraine Bright, who later changed her name to Kiran. However, Mahesh and Kiran got married in 1968. The duo was blessed with a girl, Pooja Bhatt, and a son, Rahul Bhatt. After that, reports claimed that Mahesh started dating actress, Parveen Babi. As soon as the dating rumours of Mahesh and Parveen started dominating the headlines, Kiran started maintaining distance from Mahesh. After two years, the relationship between Parveen and Mahesh ended. Kiran and Mahesh, too, parted ways on their mutual decision. However, he never divorced Kiran Bhatt.

Mahesh Bhatt then met Soni Razdan, a budding actress of that time, during the shoot of Saaransh. Soni's arrival in Mahesh's life during his tough phase and helped him to see things in life from a different perspective. Soon the duo started dating each other but in secret. After that, when it came to the wedding, Mahesh decided to follow his mother's religion and become a Muslim. This permitted him to marry twice. As a result, he could marry Soni, without divorcing Kiran. Mahesh and Soni got married in the year 1986 secretly. The duo later held a reception party at hotel Taj in Mumbai, where they announced their marriage. Mahesh and Soni welcomed their first daughter in 1988, who they named, Shaheen Bhatt, and they welcomed their second daughter, Alia Bhatt, in 1993.
Even though Soni Razdan is the stepmom of Pooja Bhatt, the two share an adorable bonding. It was back in 2019 when Pooja Bhatt shared how once Soni confessed her guilt of marrying Mahesh. Pooja said:
"I grew up with a father who supposedly went on to marry somebody else and have another family. I do not feel that way. In fact, I was very moved one day. Soni and I were on a reiki to Coonoor and she was sitting outside and she said, 'Pooja I want to tell you I felt so guilty.' I said, 'Soni why do you need to feel guilty? You never broke any marriage up.' That marriage (her father's first marriage to her mom Lorraine) was long dead."
