A name that immediately pops up when we talk about the South Korean entertainment industry is that of Song Joong Ki. The actor has undoubtedly spread his charm across the world and is among the renowned from the Korean showbiz. He is famous for his leading roles in K-dramas such as Descendents Of The Sun, Vincenzo, Reborn Rich, and Sungkyunkwan Scandal, among others.
The popular actor caught everyone’s attention when he got married to his DOTS co-star, Song Hye Kyo, in 2017. Unfortunately, the duo called it quits in 2019. Song Joong returned to the dating scene with Katy Louise Saunders, a former British actress. The couple got married in January 2023 and welcomed their son in June 2023. Since their son’s birth, the couple has been living in Rome, Italy. Recently, Song Joong flew back to South Korea to promote his upcoming film, Hopeless.

In a press conference on September 22, 2023, Song Joong Ki shared his thoughts on his upcoming film, Hopeless. The film's press preview took place in Gangnam, with director, Kim Chang Hoon, actors, Song Joong Ki, Hong Xa Bin, and Kim Hyeong Seo (BIBI) in attendance. He highlighted why he chose to play a negative character in the film and also mentioned that he would love his son to watch his film someday. He said:
“There was a time when I had the opportunity, but I couldn't do it against my will, which was unfortunate. I wanted to make a dark film but couldn't. When I found this script, I was certain that the emotions I was experiencing at the moment were true, and the script was very attractive."
As he was revealed why he ultimately decided on this noir drama film, Song Joong also shared that later on, he wants his son to watch the film as well. He wants his son to feel proud of him as he tries to portray a different character than his usual one. He said:
"I have a baby who I love dearly, but I wasn't concerned about making a dark film. When he grows up, I want my son to see that his father made movies of this kind. I'm thinking a lot about how to be a good person and be next to my child. So, I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to express my gratitude for being able to release this movie, Hopeless, that I loved making."

The upcoming film, Hopeless is a neo-noir drama that follows the lives of two leading characters, ‘Yeon Gyu’ played by Hong Sa Bin and ‘Chi Geon’ played by Song Joong Ki. ‘Chi Geon’ is a middle manager in an organisation he founded during a difficult time in his life when he saw no hope. Meanwhile, ‘Yeon Gyu’ is a 17-year-old boy who comes from a troubled family where his father is abusive towards his mother.
‘Yeon Gyu's’ greatest desire is to earn enough money to rescue his mother from her situation. While working towards this goal, ‘Yeon Gyu’ crosses paths with ‘Chi Geon’, who takes him under his wing as he sees a reflection of his past struggles in ‘Yeon Gyu’. Hopeless is scheduled to hit the theatres on October 11, 2023.
