Sonam Kapoor is one of the most stunning actresses in Bollywood. Daughter of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor, Sonam had begun her career as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s drama, Black. In 2007, Sonam made her acting debut with Saawariya. In 2016, she won a national award for the biographical thriller, Neerja.
Sonam is known for speaking her mind without mincing her words. The stunning actress once talked about facing sexual abuse during her childhood. In a conversation with film critic, Rajeev Masand’s The Actresses Roundtable, where she was joined by Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan and Radhika Apte, Sonam addressed the traumatising experience.

She talked about the sort of molestation a woman has to undergo on a daily basis. Sonam recalled the incident when she was groped by a man at the mere age of 13. Sharing details about the incident, Sonam said:
“Everybody goes through some sort of sexual abuse in their childhood. I know I have been molested when I was younger and it was traumatising. I didn’t speak about it for two years or three years. I remember the incident so clearly.”
Elaborating on the same, Sonam revealed that the incident happened at Mumbai’s Gaiety Galaxy, where she had gone with her friends to watch a movie. As she and her friends stepped out to get some snacks, a man came from behind and held her breasts. In her words:
“There was a man who came from behind and just held my breasts like that. And obviously, I didn’t have breasts at that time. I started shaking and shivering and I didn’t know what was going on and I started crying right there. I didn’t speak about it. I just sat there and I finished watching the film because I felt that I’d done something wrong for the longest time.”

Talking about Sonam Kapoor’s personal life, it was during the promotion of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo when Sonam’s friends had tried to set her up with a guy, who shared similar interests as her. When Sonam had met the guy, who had come with a middleman, she had surprisingly connected with the middleman, who was none other than Anand Ahuja. On May 8, 2018, the duo tied the knot and began their ‘everyday phenomenal’ journey.
Sonam Kapoor embraced motherhood in 2022 as she and her husband, Anand Ahuja welcomed a baby boy, Vayu.
