At a time when Indian families are changing conversations around modern parenting, a new show has arrived on OTT, which focuses on a single father at the center of the story. After giving multiple blockbuster films, Kunal Kemmu has returned as a Haryanvi single father, in this warm, funny and emotional show, Single Papa, created by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani. Here comes the review of it!
Single Papa, which has been dropped on Netflix, follows the story of 'Gaurav Gehlot' (played by Kunal Kemmu), who is in his thirties, but still behaves like a 'man-child'. However, his life changes after divorce, as he finds a baby in the back of his car and he decides to keep the child. This sets the tone of the film. Soon, he decides to adopt the child, but then he undergoes the difficult and strict process of adoption.

He also faces different reactions from his mother, father and sister, Namrata (played by Prajakta Koli). At the same time, he also struggles at work, when his colleagues are not ready to support a new parent. It is worth mentioning that Single Papa focuses on showing the reality behind being a single parent with a hint of humour. The six-episodes of Single Papa were dropped on December 12, 2025.

What works the best in Single Papa is the amazing and strong performance by Kunal Kemmu and Prajakta Koli. The Malang actor delivers an honest and lovable performance. His acting makes viewers understand the struggle he is going through with the child. Apart from him, Prajakta Koli, who plays the sister of Kunal, brings another layer to the story. In the show, she plays the role of a young woman, who is trying to manage her career, but her parents are forcing her to get married. This adds depth to the plot.

What works in Single Papa is the powerful performances by Kunal Kemmu and Prajakta Koli. Apart from them, the surprise factor is Dayanand Shetty, Manoj Pahwa and Ayesha Raza. The show features family fights, dramatic moments and jokes, which makes it relatable for the viewers. Another highlight is the portrayal of a Haryanvi family. However, even though Single Papa has multiple plus points, it can feel stretched at some points.
