It’s almost a week since Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy hit the theatres, and ‘apna time aayega’ has become the national anthem of India. Apart from the screenplay and amazing storyline, it’s the performance of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi that’s been applauded by the critics. While the film is a hit already, it’s the character of newbie Siddhant, who got a separate fan base of his own. The actor, who is originally from Nagwa, Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, has become the crush for many girls. But sorry girls, recently in an interview with BollywoodLife, Siddhant has declared that he is taken. When the interviewer asked him about his relationship status, the actor gushed, and said, “Yes, I am seeing somebody.” He further stated, “She is from the industry, but not an actress.” Although he didn’t reveal the name, this revelation might have broken many hearts!
In an interview with Times Now, the 25-year-old hottie got candid about sharing the screen space with the superstar, Ranveer Singh. He said, “The thing is I'm an actor, he's an actor, you should ask him. He is so amazing. I have no words, I just love him. He's been so warm and so kind, he's like my MC Sher off-screen. There was a role reversal. I used to be like 'baba kaisa hai, kaisa kiya maine.' He went on to talk about his non-filmy background and the struggles he faced. He had stated, “Me coming from you know a non-filmy background, and outsiders we don't have that chance to imagine ki hamara launch hoga, humara aisa hoga, hum acting kar sakte hai, and if people like and appreciate, then hum apke sath yaha baith ke interview kar sakte hain.”
The debutant, Siddhant plays the character of MC Sher in the film, he revealed to FirstPost, how he was discovered by Zoya Akhtar. He had said, “The film had already started. They were casting for the film, I didn't know anything about it.” Zoya met him during the success bash of Amazon Prime show, Inside Edge, after she spotted him dancing and asked, “Who are you?” To which Siddhant said, "I was like 'I'm Siddhant'”, and Zoya asked him if he had auditioned for Gully Boy to which he said that he hadn't. And then Zoya said, "No, you have to audition for this film. Audition tomorrow.” It was the day after the audition, Siddhant got a call from an unknown number which turned out to be Zoya. While not many know, Siddhant’s initial plan was to follow his father’s footstep and pursue a career in chartered accountancy but he was doing theatre as well. He talked about the whole journey of being an actor with Elle India, and had said, “I was doing a lot of theatre as well because that was my passion. I was kind of balancing the two. Theatre was my escape; I used to go and just rehearse, do lines, write, co-write. Things were good, but I had never dreamed of being an actor because I come from a regular middle-class family.”
He further stated, “I did that for four or five months, before I realised I couldn’t do it any longer. I was suffocating; I hadn’t met my theatre friends, I was missing the stage, missing performing.
