The key to a happy marriage is to never stop treating your better-half as your best friend. And our favourite television couple, Shoaib Ibrahim and Dipika Kakar follow this rule by heart. They have not only redefined love for us but also proved that love is above all. (Recommend Read: Hrithik Roshan Reveals Why He Is Cordial With Ex, Sussanne, Talks About Dealing With Personal Issues)
Dipika and Shoaib had made headlines when they tied the knot in a Muslim ceremony on February 22, 2018, in Uttar Pradesh. And while we were gushing over their nikaah, Dipika had raised many eyebrows by changing her religion to marry the man of her life. Ever since they are living their own 'happily ever after'.
Today, on August 6, 2019, Dipika turned a year older, and her husband, Shoaib made sure to make her day super special. He took to his Instagram handle and shared a couple of pictures from her birthday celebrations. Along with it, he wrote, "I am lucky enough to fall in love with my best friend, so as you turn a year older, I just want to say how happy I am that you are mine!! You complete my world. Love you.. happy birthday bachcha @ms.dipika." Take a look at the pictures below:
Coming back to their love story, Shoaib and Dipika grew closer when they started working together on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka. However, Dipika was already married back then, but in the year 2015, Dipika had a bitter divorce from her ex-husband, Raunak Mehta. And that's when she found love again in Shoaib and she decided to take the leap of faith and give marriage a second chance. In an interview with The Times of India, Dipika had talked about how she fell in love with Shoaib, and had shared, "I wanted to be sure that this relationship wasn’t on the rebound. Also, we were getting to know each other better. No matter how progressive we become, being a divorcee has some kind of a social stigma attached to it in our society. I had that stamp on me. But he gave me that space and despite being aware of my past, never complained about it. He has in fact always respected that. Coming from a small town, even his parents never let me feel that. I have always longed for family. Ammi sends dabba for me when my mother is not there. I feel I am more close to his mom than him. Everything is positive and we are more at peace now."
In a post-marriage interview, Dipika had talked about changing religion to get married, "Joh sach hai woh hai (Truth is the truth). It's true I have done it, but why and when I have done it, don't think it needs to be talked about. I think it is a very personal matter and I don't think I need to talk about it openly in front of the media. For the audience and media, we are actors have always shared everything. All our happy moments we have shared with you all, but this I think is a very personal space and I don't give anyone the permission to enter the space. Definitely, it is true and I am not denying it. I am very happy and proud that I have done it for myself and my happiness. My family was with me in this decision and my intentions were to hurt anyone. This is my decision."
