Shilpa Shinde stole the limelight as the first wildcard entry. On July 5, 2026, she entered the show, Lock Upp 2. On the first day inside the house, the Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai actress called out contestants, including Sunita Ahuja and Akanksha Chamola. She stated that Akanksha was in the show just because of her estranged husband and actor, Gaurav Khanna. Speaking to co-contestants, Shreya Kalra and Madhuri Jain, Shilpa said:
"Main usko bola woh Gaurav ke vajah se aayi hain. Maine kaha usko kabhi dekha tha."

On the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, Akanksha Chamola revealed that she and her husband, Gaurav, have been living separately for the past year. She mentioned that they have mutually decided to get divorced. She stated that nothing is bad between them and they still talk to each other. Akanksha highlighted that she and Gaurav were not right as partners. She added that all of this has been going on since Gaurav participated in Bigg Boss 19. In her words:
"Gaurav Khanna and I are getting divorced. We have been living separately for the past year. People don’t know about this yet. This is a decision we have both taken. All this has been going on since Bigg Boss 19. Gaurav’s parents and my parents told us to stay separately for some time. Sometimes, when you stay away, you realise each other’s importance. Everyone thought that since we were talking, appearing together on social media and supporting each other at events, we would get back together. But we are not getting that couple-like feeling anymore."
Shilpa Shinde and her fake sexual assault case explained
Earlier, in June 2026, Shilpa Shinde found herself at the centre of a major controversy as she stated that the sexual assault case against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer, Sanjay Kohli, was false. Appearing on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, Shilpa shared that she had no other way but to fabricate a lie. For the unversed, Shilpa left the show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, in 2016 and filed a sexual assault case against Sanjay, reportedly in 2017. In her words:
"Nobody knows this. I am not scared of saying the truth, and I will still say that what I am saying is a big thing. Maine apne producer ke upar sexual harassment ka case kar diya tha kyun ki mere pass koi raasta nahi tha, aur tab main uss main se nikli hoon settle hoke. Tab kisi producer ne unka saath nahi diya aur maine case usi basis pe kiya, police toh seedha FIR karne ke liye yeh bolti hai aapko ganda likhna padega, and I am from law background. Main aaj iske through bol rahi hoon woh jhooth tha."
