The year 2020 will always be remembered for the biggest uncertainty. The global pandemic COVID-19 has ruined many lives. People are left jobless, stepping out of the house makes us paranoid, and being confined into the four walls of our home brings a sense of anxiety and what not. But the most affected are the little ones as the concept of getting out and playing with friends is an alienated subject for them now. Television actress, Shikha Singh is going through all these emotions as she had embraced motherhood and had welcomed a little angel in her life. Shikha Singh is famous for her role of ‘Alaya’ in the daily soap, Kumkum Bhagya. Shikha had married her pilot boyfriend, Karan after dating him for some time. And after four years of marital bliss, the couple had embraced parenthood. On June 16, 2020, Shikha and Karan were blessed with a baby girl whom they have lovingly named Alayna Singh Shah.
On October 14, 2020, Shikha took to her IG handle and shared pictures of Alayna’s first day out to the garden. In the pictures, the little munchkin looked happy as she enjoyed her first outing and was seen giggling with her parents. Along with the pictures, Shikha wrote an emotional note for all the new-borns and their mother. Her note can be read as “And for the 1st time we got to know Grass is greener on the other side. Alayna’s 1st day out to the garden. My heart goes out to all the babies born in this lockdown & their moms as stepping out, meeting people, being on grass, watching birds all are part of the developmental growth of the new born/infant. It’s difficult right now but hang in there. Try finding times when none is around & take your baby for a 10 min stroll maybe. Find a safe zone & safe space and be safe.”
On August 18, 2020, when Alayna had completed two months, Shikha had taken to her IG handle and had shared an adorable picture of Alayna wherein the doting mommy, Shikha was seen admiring the little princess. Along with the picture, Shikha had written, “The way u look at me makes me wonder, what did I do to have you in my life. U are heavenly, angelic, dramatic & somewhat forever hungry. Shikha loves sharing her pregnancy experiences and pictures of her little munchkin, Alayna on her social media handle. On October 6, 2020, Shikha had shared the first picture clicked with her baby doll and it was adorable. She had taken to her IG handle and had shared a picture with Alayna when she was one-day-old. Calling it one of the best days of their lives, Shikha had written, “Definitely one of the best days of our lives!! I think it’s the other way round. I look more like her in this pic. Our 1st pic together. My open eyes look like her closed eyes. P.S- I have no idea why my fingers are like that.”
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shikha had opened up about the new phase of her life and had stated that nothing has changed. She had revealed that apart from being deprived of sleep because of the baby’s schedule, not much has changed since Alayna’s arrival. When asked the meaning of her daughter's name, she had stated that Alayna means dear child, beautiful and ray of hope.
